So let me ask you this, Randy. Do you not think that an injury to Curry or Bogut would be damaging? If either went down for the rest of the season, how do you think the Wariors would perform in the season's second half?
Dood - of course losing a star the quality of Curry would hurt the team's performance. And the team would need to score in higher amounts consistently to continue to win at a playoff level without Bogut. What helps is the second half is a much friendlier schedule to the Warriors. Winning in the playoffs without either of those players would be a pipe dream, though.

The Warriors just keep pulling these trades out of a hat. They seem to take almost nothing and turn it into something of substance.
I had never heard of trading a FUTURE second rounder pick for a first rounder, as Bob Myers did. I have heard of trading a future FIRST round pick for a present 2nd rounder, but not the other way around.
By the way, Bob's wife Kristen and his daughters Kayla and Annabelle were quite surprised by Allen's comment that he had heard that Bob was gay. They did, however, say that he was happy and that even at Christmas time he didn't don himself now his gay apparel.

Rog -- So why after I said that IMO the Warriors can ill afford to be without Steph Curry, and an injury to Andrew Bogut would be quite damaging as well, did you make the gratituous comment that yeah it absolutely killed them last night when Currie twisted his ankle and Bogut got an early 5th foul. Or, wait...they poured it on and increased the lead, didn't they? I'm sure your comments were accurate, but were they pertinent? You now say "Winning in the playoffs without either of those players would be a pipe dream, though." To me it seems that you go out of the way to put down just about any comment I make, no matter how right it is. Let's not start licking Meyers between the legs so quickly yet. It's not like he got superstars in return. They are journeymen bench players for a reason. The Warriors NEED to win titles and win them quickly because no help will be forthcoming anytime soon via the draft.

The jealousy of Raiders fans towards the Niners never fails to astound me. I hear their whiney voices all day on talk radio blaming the refs and the stupidity of opposing coaches for the Niners' success. To hear them tell it, the Raiders are just as good as the Niners but they have no luck and the refs have it in for them.
Ok I give up. It's been nothing but luck that has the Niners in their third straight conference title game in a row. I'm sure Rog will agree since he thinks sports is all about chance anyway.

Rog -- It appears there is little chance you will understand what I'm saying. Actually, I think you do understand but are playing dumb. You continue to put words (such as all) in my mouth. I can only speak the truth; I can't make you understand it. You say I'm a stats geek. I won't go so far as to say you're an ignorance geek. I may have the wrong guy, but I know the W's made a big deal about hiring a gay man to a prominent front office post. I thought it was Myers.

I have attested first hand here to the paranoid nature of extreme secrecy at the Raiders' practice field in the Al Davis era.

Allen- That's a dynamic that has changed over the years. In the Raiders salad days, Raider fans looked upon the Niners as you would look upon your goofy little brother who would try real hard but would hardly ever succeed. They were actually happy when the Niners won. Niner fans, on the other hand, despised the Raiders. I haven't really noticed the dynamic you suggest, but I don't listen to alot of sportstalk radio. I think when Al was alive. there wan a definite anti-Raider bias among the officials. It seems to have lessened somewhat since his death. The Raiders leading the league in penalties is no longer a guarantee. I used to like the Niners until they started winning. Then all these front runners who wouldn't know Charlie Krueger from Freddie Krueger claimed to be lifelong Niner fans. The only Niner they knew was Joe Montana. Now, the Niners just bore the hell out of me. I literally cannot stay awake during one of their games.

Being a New York Giants baseball fan, my first favorite team was the New York Football Giants. When we moved to the Bay Area, my loyalties switched within a year or two to the 49ers. I also became a Raiders fan.
I thought I would remain a Raiders fan when they moved to LA, but it just didn't happen. No good reason. I just couldn't get into it. My only real contact with the Raiders these days is that I know their Bay Area News Group beat writer.
I have mentioned that I'm now a Packers fan first. If Randy were a Cal guy who had a son whose first names were Aaron Roger who went to Cal the same time as Aaron Rodgers, he might have a clue as to why.
I was rooting for the Packers to beat the 49ers, but I thought the 49ers were clearly the better team. Since I was going to root for which ever team won that game to go all the way, it wasn't too bad when the 49ers won, since it was they who had by far the better chance to go all the way.
I know more about the 49ers and actually follow them closer, but I can't root against Aaron Rodgers.
As you all know, I'm not a Dodger hater like most Giants fans. If one stops to think about it, it makes absolutely no sense to hate Dodger fans. When we Giants fans hate the Dodgers fans, we're essentially saying that we have the right to free will with regard to our baseball team while they don't.
I don't like the Dodgers, but wouldn't it be rather hypocritical of me to hate their fans? And don't bring up the Bryan Stowe thing, which while horrible almost beyond comprehension, involved only a miniscule percentage of all Dodgers fans.
I'm not saying the rest of you guys don't have the right to hate Dodgers fans. You certainly do. I'm simply saying it's hypocritical to do so. In a way, it's saying that we hate ourselves, since if we were Dodgers fans instead of Giants fans, we would hate the Giants fans that we are.
Again, it's not wrong per se to hate the Dodgers fans. It's simply illogical. Not that logic always prevails in those situations though.

250 points surrendered in the last two games. If this team thinks it's among the elite, they're kidding themselves. Too inconsistent. They've seemed to have lost any interest in playing defense. They need someone to handle the ball besides Curry, who dribbles around trying to create a shot and commits turnover after turnover. Bogut plays half the game or less. His inability to hit free throws forces him to the bench. The whole team is having problems shooting freebies. Even Curry is way off his usual percentage. Bogut, Iggy and Barnes are ridiculously bad from the line. Either Iggy's hamstring is still bothering him, or we caught him too late. He isn't doing much.

Another bad game by Barnes tonight. he may have to enjoy the wonders of Santa Cruz for awhile until he gets his game back. He's pretty useless right now.

Dood - I can understand rooting for Mr. Discount Double Choke, but not against my team...unless of course my loyalty was still split between the Niners and the football Giants.

Dood - basically you're saying Dodger fans should have the free will to like that team but that we should NOT have the freedom to hate them, as if exercising that free will makes us illogical. From my earliest days, Dodger fans were obnoxious and severely anti-Giants fans. EVERY Dodger fan I came across never missed an opportunity to badmouth my team and me for liking them. I am now enjoying every opportunity I get to return the favor.

Rog -- Why do you continue with this trash, Randy? Not that it would be wrong, but I haven't rooted for the New York Football Giants for over 50 years. Oh, and the reason I rooted for the football Giants? Because they had the same name as my favorite baseball team. Let's put it this way, Randy. I was a Giants fan before you were born, even before they came to San Francisco. I'm going to bet that I'm the only person who here who hasn't lived in New York state who can say that. Randy -- EVERY Dodger fan I came across never missed an opportunity to badmouth my team and me for liking them. I am now enjoying every opportunity I get to return the favor. Rog -- That might have something to do with your attitude. I've been a Giants fan a lot longer than you, and I can't remember ever having a problem with a Dodgers fan. I'm not saying Dodgers fans are wonderful people. Like us Giants fans, some are good and some are bad. I simply find it odd that you say EVERY Dodger fan you came across badmouthed the Giants, when I haven't had any problem that I can remember. Hey, one of the best jokes putting down the Dodgers I heard from a Dodgers fan I worked with. Here's how it goes. Former Dodger third baseman and butcher Pedro Guerrero was asked what he was thinking in the ninth inning of a close game. "I'm hoping they don't hit the ball to me," he supposedly replied. "And I'm hoping they don't hit it to Saxy either." I presume we all know about Steve Sax's awful troubles throwing the ball, similar to former Giants farmhand Mackey Sasser, among others. I find people tend to treat you as you treat them, Randy. Based on that, I guess I should treat you a lot better. You frustrate the heck out of me, but I'll work on that.
