Rog -- Let me ask you this, Randy. Would you trade Gary Brown and Joe Panik for Puig? Dood - my general rule of thumb is that I would ONLY trade a top prospect for a proven Major Leaguer. Prospect for prospect trades are fraught with so much risk that it isnt worth the heartache. Rog -- This one would be worth the heartache, Randy. And that's even though I expect both Brown and Panik to become starters for the Giants. I LOVE the way you side step. Dood - I've seen some Peguero blasts equally impressive. Boagie- Peguero hasn't hit a homerun in spring or last year with the Giants, did you see him hit one in the minors? If so then you got lucky, he's only hit 32 homeruns in 7 seasons. Peguero is faster, better defensively, but it's clear Gillespie has far more power. In 7 seasons in the minors Gillespie hit 80 homeruns. Dood - if you think 80 HRs in 7 minor league seasons is impressive, you are easily impressed. Rog -- I hadn't noticed this until now, but I love the way you avoided Boagie's question by focusing on the number of homers GILLESPIE has hit. Stop obfuscating and just play straight up, Randy. Dood - the question was obviously rhetorical...since Boagie told us that Francisco has hit no HRs in ST then obviously the ones I saw were in the minors...and if you know, like some do here, that I reside in San Jose, then it's very easy to conclude, if you have at least half a brain, that i saw those HRs while Peguero was a Little Giant. I actually thought you could at least figure that much out on your own. Sorry I overestimated your brain power. Rog -- Boagie's question was to an extent rhetorical. He pointed out that if you saw one of Peguero's home runs, you saw one of just 32. But what I think he was asking was if you had seen one of Peguero's homers at all. Francisco has hit 12 while playing for San Jose, or about one every 11 games he played. Assuming he didn't play in all of them (122 in the entire 2010 season, for example), he hit about one homer for every 14 games the Little Giants played while he was with them. So it is possible you could have seen quite a few San Jose Giants games without his hitting one. Given that Francisco isn't the most powerful guy around, it is possible you could have seen a LOT of games without seeing him hit one as far as Cole Gillespie hit his on Sunday. So, really, Randy. How many of Francisco's homers have you actually seen, and how far did they carry? By the way, Randy, when you say dumb stuff such as "Sorry I overestimated your brain power," I know a nerve is being touched. That's a REALLY defensive comment. A touch of the past: Brandon Belt was just replaced at first base by ... Todd Linden.

Not sure I agree with giving up on Otero, but not a huge loss either.
Allen- The Yankees had him one day before they waived him in favor of Sam Demel.

Not sure I agree with giving up on Otero, but not a huge loss either. Allen- The Yankees had him one day before they waived him in favor of Sam Demel. Rog -- So perhaps the Giants can get him back for Fresno. I had the good fortune of sitting next to Danny's dad when I watched Tim Alderson pitch to Buster Posey in the San Jose opener of the Cal League playoffs in 2008. His dad himself told me that he needed to put the ball where he wanted in order to be hit. Danny has a nice slider, but he really needs to put the ball right on target. For the most part he's been able to do so, averaging just 1.2 walks in the minors, but especially in the majors, he gets punished when he misses. Danny has yielded just under a hit per inning in the minors and at this point appears at least even money to be a Four A pitcher. Danny averaged just over a strikeout per inning between Richmond and Fresno in 2011, but he fell off to just 6.5 K/9 in 2012. This spring it was the long ball that did him in, as he yielded two bombs in seven innings. Back four and a half years ago (where did THOSE years go?) his dad saw Danny as a long reliever. He has actually continued to be a closer in the minors. With the Giants last season, he pitched anywhere between the 3rd inning and the 9th. If Danny ultimately doesn't make it in baseball, he should fare well outside the game. His dad is an attorney in Coral Gables, Florida, and Danny himself attended Duke University along with the University of Southern Florida. Proctor was sold to the Orioles. Otero was picked up by Oakland.
