Even though it is a ways off...
From ESPN:
"San Francisco Giants
Trade candidate: Hayden Birdsong
The Giants are the ultimate "just get in" team. With Logan Webb and Blake Snell in the rotation, plus the upside of Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison, they are the team most likely to sneak into the playoffs and then go on a Diamondbacks-like run. That makes them potential deadline adders, even if they're off to a slow start. Birdsong, who was a sixth-round pick in 2022 as a reliever out of Eastern Illinois, exploded last year as a starter in the minors with 149 strikeouts in 100⅔ innings. He'll get a tougher test in Double-A, but he's the kind of prospect teams will ask for."
Thoughts?

It sounds intriguing though I hate to give up pitching
It'll be interesting to see what our needs will be at the deadline
It is still very early, but it looks to me like we need to rework the bullPen with both taylor and tyler being shown the door by the end of may early june
Of course me saying that reminds me of the old dusty springfield song wishin and hopin and plannin and dreamin.
By the time we get to the deadline this will be a different team, one that scores runs

I too would hate to give up a decent prospect so early in his career and especially when we need pitching.

Everyone needs pitching, soooooo, IF we were to give up a guy THIS GOOD, I'd want the farm, and their 3rd born male child in return.

Birdsong is a player most would want to keep, not trade away.

Totally agree!
Totally!!!
That's why I said I'd HATE to give up pitching, but if HE was the guy, I'd want the farm and their 3 born male child in return.
That's a LOT to pay.

Birdsong is expected to make a mid-summer debut and may have passed Crawford and Whisenhunt who were taken before him in that same draft. As a youngster, he was taught a spike curve (similar to Jonathan Sanchez's by Bert Bradley who used to work for the Giants. I think he is going to garner a ton of interest from other GMs so this is the kind of prospect they should be keeping, not trading away.

Just to give you a head's up, the players most likely to be traded at the trade dealine are the Boras lame ducks like Bellinger, Montgomery, Martinez, etc. Goldschmit and Bregman are also reaching the ends of their contracts. As such, there's not a lot of help they should be expecting from trades (or next season's free agent class, for that matter).
