[font face="If you've been reading this board for a while, you know my feelings on the swing.
I don't like a lot of wasted, start up motion.
I like to keep the mechanics simple so it can be more easily repeated as you get older or tire.
With that in mind, here's my early season review on SWINGS, not results.
Lee-Can't help but love his simple mechanics! No wasted start up motion with his hands. Quick and direct to the ball.
Soler-For a big guy, solid, simple mechanics. I HATE that back elbow up nonsense, because it can create a loop in the swing, But until he gets older, and can't as easily repeat it, it's a good swing.
Ahmed.Terrible and I mean TERRIBLE hand/start up mechanics.
Low hands, bat cocked TOWARDS the pitcher.
He has to start his load by going back and UP to get his timing right.
THAT will make him more than just a little streaky.
Wade-Okay mechanics. DON'T like his low hands to start with. like Ahmed, those hands have to go back and up... which makes his so streaky.
Flores-Short, quick and direct to the ball. Excellent mechanics!
Estrada-Other than the fact that he WON'T take ball four enough, pretty simple, solid mechanics.
Chapman-Excellent start up. Minimal hand movement.
Conforto-See Wade above
Bailey-Every time he swings he looks awkward and I can't figure out why. To ME, he looks off balance.
That's it so far. sans ms"][/font]
