You might be right, but it does appear they're adding more baseball guys to the mix. Price and Williams are more anti-sabremetrics, and I doubt Burrell is on board with Sabremetrics, since he always liked to work the count when he was playing. I believe Farhan is now in phase 2 of saving his ass, he wants to hide behind the baseball guys and he'll surely blame them if next season goes wrong. Burrell hates the launch angle stuff. He wants to teach contact and situational hitting The situation will be that VIele and Burrell will be the two main coaches and Guerrero is their assistant. Burrell has been saying all the right things in interviews about the other two coaches. The main thing he feels is that a lot of the players were not ready for the grind, either because of injury (Conforto) or because they were not used to playing that many games (JD, Bailey).

That is SUCH a smart philosophy! It's what Don Sutton was preaching over and over again back in the 1990s!

Virtue signaling. again. You've used that phrase before, Reed, but I don't know what it means.
help! The latest example is Froot Loops which is offering a free digital library full of equity, diversity, and inclusion content. So, while you eat sugar bomb cereal, you get access to free woke ideology. Maybe it will give Kapler something to read in his free time.

Burrell is a good add because pitchers have figured out how to counter launch angle and Pat is pushing for more frequent contact. Burrell feels that the use of pitchers is the biggest change in the game. In the old days, they could be less aggressive on the first at bat to get looks at the pitcher but with starters leaving the game earlier, they don't get that luxury.

I believe Farhan is now in phase 2 of saving his ass, he wants to hide behind the baseball guys and he'll surely blame them if next season goes wrong. Price was recently interviewed and mentioned using analytics to help starters get deeper into games. That is encouraging. They are finally coming around to our line of thinking where starters going deeper into the games causes less stress on bullpens. Ya think? The opener stuff should be used for emergency situations, not twice a week. The worst part about the Kapler regime was that they tried to look smart and cutting edge by using new strategies and technologies and disregarding and disrespecting century old thinking. The appearance of looking smart seemed more important than the actual results. Maybe things that have stuck around for decades are accumulated knowledges that made sense? Toward the end, I still thought he didn't know or understand what he was doing and that lack of understanding got him fired. If a manager himself does nothing but half a dozen of the players and Wotus and FZ are needed call out players who have their heads stuck in card games, it shows he does not understand the players. Bob Melvin does not like the term "gut reaction". He realizes that the reaction is the sum of all he knows from working in baseball and what is going on in the players' heads at any given moment. I feel that Melvin and company might be worth about a six to seven game difference. It's not necessarily a game changer on its own but its a step in the right direction. Maybe Kapler should have spent some of his off time watching what Bochy was doing but I feel he's so caught up in himself that he will never learn. I'll bet a certain guy who used to post on this board would worship at GK's feet because he was so cutting edge but it was pretty clear that the Giants could not continue using a guy who lost the team.

Totally agree about that ex poster.
HE DID worship FZ! Thought he was a leader in using analytics in the front office.
And look how THAT turned out!
I told him back then I'd give the guy 5 years to prove himself.
And I believe his time is up this season.
And I agree with you; there is a reason things stuck around for decades...they WORKED.
All this new baloney has not, for the most part, been successful.
And it has now had a fair run.
