Some of you remember Marc...not Mark.
A year before Timmy was called up, Marc sent me photos and videos of Timmy in the ML.
He asked for my evaluation, and I gave it.
Tim's stride was TOO LONG, and would shorten his career.
How can I say that?
Go watch some videos of him.
When he landed, he was NEVER out over the top of his left knee, he was behind it...like a good many (most?) pitchers of today are.
The classic example of HOW to do it correctly , was Tom Seaver.
After his drive off the back foot, he was out OVER his left knee... taking MASSIVE stress OFF the elbow and shoulder.
Now, go look at Harrison. I noticed this in his last outting.
GREAT mechanics and a PERFECTLY distanced stride!
He's out OVER the top of that left knee, just like Seaver.
Other things may go wrong, but he's mechanics will take stress off that should and elbow.

Today, Estes actually had a good segment. In the past, he would usually just talk about his plane trips and his kids but he had a lot of good insight on Harrison today. He said that pitching in the PCL is more difficult for pitcher because the parks are hitter friendly and because of the ABS. He likened it to pitching on the moon. He said that Harrison's fastball is like Jake McGee but unlike Jake McGee, he has a couple of other pitches, which is why McGee is a reliever and Harrison is a starter. Also, he mentioned that Harrison has an extended release point meaning that hitters get a fraction of a second less to pick up on the ball. The explosiveness of the fastball will serve him well if the slider and changeup are not working.
He also compared Harrison's release to Hjelle. Hjelle does not take advantage of his size because he tends to lose command when he extends his pitches. If that is the reason why Hjelle doesn't seem to work, then he's probably finished with the Giants.
