Based upon my experience, I really HOPE that Cobb gets an extra day or two of rest before his next start.
Up until we began coddling pitchers, throwing 120+ was no big deal because pitchers did it regularly.
But Cobb, among ALL of this and last generation have not.
THAT many pitches, and the stress of the last two innings trying to GET that No hitter, IMHO, will effect him.
The arm won't recover as fast as it normally would, and neither will his body.
Problem is, I don't see any off days in the upcoming schedule.
Not good.

Estes stressed it this morning that Cobb has never thrown that many pitches before in a game and that there is also a psychological letdown after trying to throw a no hitter that lasts two to three starts after the attempt. Cobb also tends to pitch better on 5 days rest than on 4 days. He needs to get that extra day, even if they have to use an additional opener or have Beck open and go as long as he can.

This is a good opportunity to call up someone else and give them a spot start. I haven't looked at the Sacramento stats recently, is anyone else pitching well? I know Winn and Hjelle are down there, they're both an option.

Winn had some elbow problems earlier in the month and he struggled in his first appearance back (5 R in 2.2IP). Mason Black might be a candidate but he will require them to remove someone else from the 40 man. Another possibility is Kai-Wei Teng

Hjelle is an enigma to me.
He has such movement on his fastball, you'd think he would generate more hit and miss or ground balls.
But, like so many pitchers that size, he struggles with mechanics, and thus, location
Randy Johnson was like his first few years.
NOT COMPARING them, just that they are both very tall

Anyone that's pitched at a high level knows what throwing a lot of pitches to your arm and your body. Should have had at least one Bullpen game in there to give Kyle and Alex a day off. But no GK is smarter than everyone and didn't do that
