Two nice wins and lots of rookie input has me speculating on how the club will look next year PRIOR to any FA signings.
1-I don't see JD with the club next year.
FZ might not agree, but I would be ready to roll 2024 with Schmitt at 3B.
UNLIKE Villar, who was a below average defender with ZERO speed, Casey has a cannon, can play 3 infield spots, and can run some.
I'd be more than willing to put up with his growth pains.
2-I'd bet Conforto opts out, which is okay with me.
Personally, for next year I'd like to see Meckler in CF, Matos in RF and Haniger in LF...
3-I don't see Joc back with the club.
Not nearly enough production
4-After having some doubts that he was ready, Meckler has made me a believer.
He has made incredible adjustments in a short period of time.
You can literally SEE the confidence in the kid at the plate.
LHP or RHP, so far...SO FAR... he's show he can hit them both.
He's still young and LOTS OF GROWING to do, but I think he's a player and I think he can hit and stick as a starter and lead off guy...
But he MUST learn to steal bases. Maury Wills had to learn, as have others. With his wheels, it's a crime NOT to.
5-Wood will not be back. And I don't think that needs any explanation.
6-Crawford will retire. At least I hope he does. It's painful to watch such a graceful SS play like he has. IMHO, he's THE BEST Giant SS I've ever seen.
I'm ixy-dixy on what Cobb will do, though I'd love to have him back.
I liked what I saw from Luciano, but I'm not sure if he's ready. and he keeps on getting hurt. NOT a good sign.
There is some other stuff, but I'll leave that for later.
