What an embarrassment! And the articles I read by Pavolovic and others on the NBC Bay area app pretty much said the same thing.
Joc hit one out... how nice for him. (sarcasm)
JD hit one out... how nice for him. (sarcasm)
But they are doing it far less than expected.
And as for JD, if THIS is the INCONSISTENCY he showed at the plate there, no wonder they let him go so cheaply
That is one of the reasons I'd pursue Arenado HEAVILY!!
JD is too inconsistent.
This team NEEDS new infusions... or we are dead in the water

Here I am, answering my own post!
What does that make me? Rog 2.0?
Expanding upon what I already wrote, if I'm Fz, this would be my priority list of deals I'd try to make.
1-Starting pitching. For me, this is a must!
We simply cannot not expect to even GO to the post season with Webb and Cobb, and the rest of the blob in the rotation.
Personally, I don't think DesClafani is going to find it, much less, help
I've said before, Wood looked done last year and I've seen nothing, this year to change my mind.
Manaea should be cut or moved.
Stipling is...okay for a # 4 or 5 guy, but we can do better. We must have better.
2-Middle infielder. I don't believe we can rely on Crawford and his balky knee, and right now, this season, Casey is NOT the answer.
Meaning, I'd try to get a SS. DeJong? Eh...at least he's an upgrade over Casey
3-I pursue Arenado, as I said in the original post, heavily.
Which makes JD expendable. He's played excellent defense, but, as Bob Dylan once sang in his song Hurricane..."He ain't the guy!
I would not, repeat, would NOT pursue ANY bullpen arms! None.
4-They won't do it, but I'd try to move Joc and install Blake as the LH DH.
5-I'd bring up Bart so that Blake doesn't have to be the back up catcher and could be the mostly full time DH
anyway, that's what I'd try to do.
Try to do...
For me, though, the bottom line is this; I do NOT trust Farhan. Not one little bit.
And he'd better not gut the farm system for an outside shot at the WS.

I think we'd have to give up a similar package to get Arenado as we would to get Ohtani, so for me that's off the table.
The Giants are said to have interest in Verlander, I hope that's just a rumor. If we needed to plug just one rotation spot I'd be interested, but we need 3. I want them to swing deals for YOUNG pitchers, not pitchers on the verge of retirement.
Honestly, nobody really sticks out to me as a guy we need to finish off this season. We need to focus on next year more than we need to make a push this season. If FZ can land a few promising minor leaguers I'd be happy.

If they want to use promising minor leaguers, the least costly option would be for them to use their own.

I don't think I agree, boagie. I don't think we need 3 pitchers. I think we need a # 3-type, again, I use Smyly or Strohman as examples, and then use Stripling as the # 4, and Winn or Beck as the number 5.
Yes, it would be costly to get Arenado, but if they are trying to get out from under big money numbers, I think it would be a much smaller deal than Ohtahni.
That said, I DO agree that the focus MUST BE ON THE FUTURE.
But I keep throwing out ideas because I would be my left butt cheek that FZ wants to make a splash and thus a pretty big sized push for this season...
With that in mind, I can't see him trading guys for minor league talent.
He just won't, IMHO.
He wants to win now, and honestly, I think it's important for our kids that we DO make the play offs.
They need to see and feel the excitement that takes place there.
But in it all?
yeah. Right. Come on, Farhan, put the crack pipe down and step away from the table!

Boly: I would not, repeat, would NOT pursue ANY bullpen arms! None.
One way to improve the bullpen (which they wouldn't do) is to get rid of Manaea. The only way I see them getting rid of him is to trade him to Cincinnati along with cash.

Totally agree! I've been saying the same thing for weeks now! I don't know what FZ' problem is, but this guy was done 2 years ago.
