As we are now a little over 2 weeks away from the trade deadline, I've been giving a lot of thought about what we need, and what we could reasonably get.
First off, I keep Wilmer. I know I'd mentioned using him as trade bait, but with our middle infield/1B injury issues, and with his veteran bat, he's too valuable to move.
I would move Joc in a heartbeat.
Here we are in the middle of July, he's healthy... but hitting in the .230's and with ZERO power.
Though not quite a base clogger we can do better.
And as I've said before, I prefer Sabol at DH over Mr. Disappointment.
Personally, I would investigate 2 possible moves.
1-Goldschmidt
2-Nolan Arenado.
don't know what it would take, but I'd sure look into it. and I'd be will to part with our other Mr. Disappointment, JD Davis.
JD's nonsense has gone on for over 2 months now.
He's NOT driving the ball, continues to swing and miss at HITTABLE pitches, and is constantly chasing crap that darned near bounces.
Failing to get Arenado, I would look for middle middle of the rotation help, and a middle infielder.
Bottom line for ME? Pederson HAS TO GO, with JD not far behind.

Joc is making the qualifying offer salary and will be difficult to move unless it’s to the Braves.

I'm just sick of him, and sick of his schtick.
He's not hitting. He's not hitting for power, and, IMHO, what he has become is the team clown, what with all of his antics and all.
Another guy I'd just flat out trade for a pizza and a six pack of Guinness.

Boly: Failing to get Arenado, I would look for middle middle of the rotation help, and a middle infielder.
This is a sound strategy as long as the foundational prospects are kept.

Couldn't agree more!
That's why I said what I did about team chemistry.
I used to argue with Roger about chemistry all the time... but like most sabermetric guys, he just couldn't/wouldn't or refused to see beyond the numbers.
Anyone that has played above Pony League understand the value of chemistry.

That was one of Rog's glaring weaknesses..I don't think he ignored chemistry altogether, but he refused to acknowledge chemistry in discussions here because he felt it was taking away from discussing the numbers, which is all he knew about. I'm still quite certain he very rarely watched games.

Could be right, but my wife and I did have dinner with Raj and his fiance about 3 years before you was kicked off the board.
He says since you couldn't measure chemistry, it didn't exist.
