Didn't we just dance this dance this time last year? I'm talking about all the injuries that are taking place.
Last season was short changed before it even had a chance to get off the ground, and looking at the way people are falling, we could be in for Another run of incredible injury bad luck.
Hoping I'm wrong, but right now it looks all too familiar

Very disappointing to have all of these injuries. No excuse this time and they cannot blame it on COVID, lockout, or anything else. Crawford's injury is not unexpected due to his age but its concerning that younger guys like Gonzalez, Waites, Bednar, and Luciano are injured and Slater still hasn't fully recovered from the injury he suffered last year. This might really open the door for Sabol and Wisely appears to be penciled in to SS if Crawford cannot go.

They announced that they are going to be conservative with Haniger who will probably start the season on the IL. Sabol probably will be on the opening day roster and possibly Johnson (PIscotty and Slater now injured). Yaz is struggling mightily the spring (.067 BA) and having trouble in the field, too.

Boly: Another run of incredible injury bad luck.
When it happens so frequently year after year, they need to really start looking at common threads. I think everyone is tired of the excuses. We tend to focus more on the Giants because we follow them more closely but the injury bug is hitting the Yankees, Dodgers, and Phillies, also

That Yaz is struggling doesn't surprise me at all. As I used to say to Roger when he was still on the board, I'm a Believer in reading a player's history, more specifically trends. And each year Mike has gotten worse, and worse, and worse. I don't consider that a fluke, I consider that a trend. And a bad Trend at that.

I haven't seen Yaz this spring but the whenthegiantscometotown blog says he is not injured and his swings look weak. He is now hitting .048 for the spring and Johnson might actually win the starting CF job.

I was verily surprised when Yaz wasn't cut this last off season.
His career has been trending down and down and down.
And now he's struggling in the spring.
Have to wonder how long they'll stick with him, especially if Bryce proves he can at least hit .250 with a good OBP.
Darren Lewis was likely one of the worst hitters in the starting lineup for any team I've ever seen... but had a decent run with us, and a fairly long career.
I'd like to think Bryce is better than Lewis, because the at bats I have seen are not full of awkward, feet shuffling as I saw with Darren, who, quite frankly NEVER looked set at the plate.
Add to that his .323 OBP was noting to get excited about, and is a CRIME for a guy with his speed.
Elite defenders are nice, but my Lord! They need to hit some!

Slater and Haniger are supposed to start the season on the IL so Sabol likely makes the team and Johnson, as well.

Slater and Haniger are supposed to start the season on the IL so Sabol likely makes the team and Johnson, as well. I noticed that Sabol has cooled off considerably.
Please, remember what I said about his swing: it's like Belt's at the top. The bat is cocked awkwardly and almost straight up.
When they're in sync, they'll be really hot, which was certainly true of Brandon.
But when they're not... Like Brandon, Sabol's slumps will likely be long ones.
That's not to say he won't be a good hitter, just that we'll have to live with the bad...bad as well as the good.
