I was watching some spring video today, and I got a chance to look at both Matos and Sabol.
Just my opinion, but Sabol has a lot of movement of his hands and bat, PRIOR to getting his foot down.
When hitters do that, with that kind of awkward cock at the top of the swing, the hitter is very, VERY prone to long periods of weak contact.
I've seen this before.
For great hitters, it isn't that much of an issue early in their careers.
Yaz comes to mind when he first came up with Boston.
But as he got older, he had to eliminate a lot of that movement.
Matos, on the other hand, as very simple mechanics; mechanics which make it much easier for him to avoid long slumps.
Again, just my opinion.

Sabol is rule V so they have to put him on the roster or send him back to the Pirates. He's hitting over .500 and Kapler said he would be getting some time in the OF and 1B.

I totally understand, but his swing is funky, and it's gonna Lead to prolonged cold streaks.
