I was surprised today when I read that Joc though he acknowledge we missed out on some big names, he was really pleased with the moves we've made.
I was surprised because not only hadn't I known he felt that way, but I thought some of the players might have been bitter over the way Crawford was handled and the fact that, once again, we got not one of the big names we targeted.
As I posted earlier and in another thread, I think we have a potential for 4 or 5 20 + Home Run guys.
I like the SP's we signed, not jumping up and down excited, but much better then signing 35+ year olds.
I like the signing of Rogers... but what really concerns me is how much he struggled last year.
From 2016-2019 he was really good.
Since then? Not so much.
I think the press is so hung up on the Twins being re-united they are failing to see some warning signs right in front of their faces.
For example: His WHIP has gone up from 1.4 to 1.8 to 2.7 last year.
That's a bad sign.
Still, I share Joc's optimism.
What bothers me is that I no longer trust the front office.
And as I've also said, Sabean's leaving, IMHO, is a nuclear warning that there is trouble brewing. He clearly didn't want to be part of it, and I think we should all make note and watch closely as to what transpires.

I think Joc's optimistic statements are one of his ways get himself motivated so I don't really take too much stock in what he says.
One thing about Taylor Rogers is that he made a comment about getting his pitching coach back (meaning his brother). Maybe Tyler can help correct whatever has been bothering his brother.

Hopefully this means they're going to ease in guys like Villar, Schmitt, and Harrison and I'm hoping some of the more heralded prospects like Luciano and Matos get back on track. If the youngsters progress, there is no need to spend $$$$ on big names that might not perform much better. The first part of the year is going to be critical for Ramos and he's going to need to be sizzling to win back the Giants' trust. If Vaun Brown keeps progressing, maybe we see him at the end of the season.

I saw the interview Joc gave when he said all this, I like the optimism..but I wouldn't expect any less from our players. They should enter spring training thinking they should win the WS even if it's a long shot. Also, Joc was lounging at a resort in Cabo during the interview..It’s easy to be positive when you have zero stress.
I tend to agree with Joc, the moves they made weren't terrible, but it certainly wasn't what we were told going in to the offseason.
