We are now...what? Almost a month since the World Series ended?
And hardly anyone has signed anywhere.
Frankly, I could care less who the other teams sign, I DO care that we haven't done diddly.
Oh, wait. The churn, as Reed calls it, the churn continues.
No one that anyone cares about.
Farhan's legacy: A wink, a promise and a pound full of rhetoric that ultimately goes no where.
Yeah... you called it. My patience it just about at its end.

I didn't make up the word "churn". I think that it was a term created by local media to describe FZ's endless series of moves and originally it was designed to raise the floor of the team by continually trading guys who were incrementally better than the guys they were traded for. Last season, that was not the case and I think they were trading more to fill in missing pieces or to cover up deficiencies. The term "churn" is definitely not a term of endearment and it was a description of FZ's plodding mode of operation. Its gotten to the point where the floor of the team can only be raised to the level it is at right now and anyone that they obtain in the churn will have some significant flaw which is why other teams would be willing to let them go in the first place.

Yeah... you called it. My patience it just about at its end. I believe the plan is that Judge will probably sign with someone in the winter meetings and then teams will pivot toward the shortstops soon after. Another reason why the signings are slow is that most of the best ones are Boras clients. Murph on KNBR this morning said he bumped into Greg Johnson, the Giants' CEO last night and he asked if they could share some good news about Judge this morning. The response was a smile and a chuckle so who knows at this point. The Yankees made a huge offer but it feels like an offer that looks big but they think it will be refused (sort of like the recent Mad Bum offer).

Yeah... you called it. My patience it just about at its end. I have a feeling in my gut that they are going about this all wrong. Krukow said this morning that Judge is good for the bang but winning teams need pitching and defense and last year the defense sucked from the get go. Also, with Rodon gone, they'll probably need a minimum of one starter and ideally two starters and a couple of relievers. If they don't sign Judge, they will need to pivot quickly. I've been reading that if they want to sign Judge, they will need to show that they are a team that can make the playoffs regularly starting in 2023, no matter how much money they give him.

Yeah... you called it. My patience it just about at its end. One area that FZ played with last season was the signing of injured players with the hope they could contribute later on in the season. It worked for Luis Gonzalez but for Boyd and Rosenthal, they never could overcome their injuries and they ended up elsewhere anyway. I don't think that this is a viable strategy, especially for pitchers.
