For a picture with the stuff of Carlos rodon, he gets in the too many 3 and 2 counts.
He really does, and there's simply no excuse for it.

He does not trust the defense so he's trying to not pitch to contact.

If this issue was something that sprung up in the last couple of months, I'd agree.
But it isn't. It's been his pattern since the season began.
And it is because of that command issue I would NOT go after signing him to some crazy contract.
He cannot be counted on to be THE guy like Logan was last season.

Right now, he's got the finger issue and I would have shut him down. Krukow was talking about this last week and said that a blister could throw off the pitching motion a little and it can cause a sore arm, even if its as little as an inch difference. That's all they need if he develops an injury and then they will be on the hook for the opt-in.

I understand, and I could see him looking at his finger during his outing. But my comments were more for his performance during the season rather than just that 1 game.
Too many 3 balls counts, too many times when hes ahead in the count when all of a sudden he falls behind or has to come fat with something
My personal pitching philosophy is attacking the strike zone and with his stuff he should be doing just that, like for some reason he doesn't

It was probably about not trusting the defense enough to pitch to contact. It was not only Rodon.

If that is the case, there is no reason to run him out there. Whether or not the team hits .500 does not affect how the team approaches the off-season.

Prior to the game, I had heard the same thing. But during the game it seemed all they talked about was the blister.
I understand that guy wants to pitch. I get that period if I was Sam Kama I would want to pitch too. And I guess the problem is compounded by the fact that they've pretty much burned up their bullpen with all of the bullpen games that keep going to.
But like you, I see no reason to run him out there. We could easily have called up a kid and get him a few innings at the major league level.
But I guess Common Sense logic like that simply is not in Gabe Kepler's playbook.

Krukow said today that Carlos Rodon has never finished a season and that's one thing he's trying to do. I guess one thing he doesn't want to do is end up the season on the IL.

Rodon is gunning for the strikeout title so I expect to see him take his turn in the rotation otherwise, he would have been on the IL by now.

Comparing his "fire" to Bum's fire, IMHO, is an insult.
Bum was a team guy, not a MEMEMEME guy, which I get the feeling that Rodon is.

When Webb was shut down, he realized it was more about staying healthy for next year so he accepted it. In Rodon's case, it seems very important to him to polish his stats. Boras probably likes that, also.

Turns out Boras does not want Rodon to go tonight so the ultimate decision will be up to Rodon. Boras saw that the Giants have sat down Webb so he wanted the same for Rodon.

So agents now pull the strings on who plays and who doesn't.

Krukow said this morning that it was like the Christian Mccaffrey situation on a smaller scale. Rodon had one good reason to go out and pitch (strikeout title) but he had a hundred million good reasons not to. It is in the Giants' interest that he sat out because if he had injured himself on the final day, especially while dealing with the blister, they would have been on the hook for $23 million next year for an injured pitcher.

I don't care either way on this but would like to point out that Alex Cobb was forced to move up a day to take Rodon's spot. That kind of thing puts a teammate in jeopardy, especially if he got tired or injured in a meaningless game.
