"Tac it up take it up, buddy now I shut you down..."
Beach boy song from 1963.
I'd like to paraphrase here:
Shut 'em down, shut 'em down, BF it's time to play the kids.
Belt has already been shut down, time to shut down La Stella and Longoria, and maybe even Webb, and bring up 3 more kids and see if they can play.
Longo and Tommy for sure.
That's two spots. One for Ramos and one for...who cares! Somebody! Anybody! I'm just tired of these two clods in particular.

Heads are starting to roll. They released Dominic Leone today "to give him a chance to latch onto another team". In reality, if a team has a Dominic Leone in the bullpen, then bullpen is not very good. He was used as an important piece to the bullpen but it was probably unfair to rely on him so heavily in high leverage situations. The reality is that he is a journeyman and a 2021 mid-season callup. Leone being released gives an opening for Waites.

Boly: time to shut down La Stella
What is scary to me is that Susan Slusser says that LaStella is in the best physical shape he's been in the last couple of years. This means, what we are seeing now may well be the best version of LaStella we will see. All that and he has only played 66 innings in the field in 2022. A player who is primarily used as a DH should not be hitting .240 with no power. This is not the same guy who served as a pest for the Angels and A's. If what Slusser is hearing is correct, he will be discarded before 2023 starts.

Boly: maybe even Webb
Estes said today that they are starting to shut Webb down. They are not going to extend his outings, which was why they pulled him after he gave up one hit. No sense in having him buff up his numbers at this point with such a lame team behind him.

They've just broken the record for number of players used on the active roster so they're trying to audition as many as they can. Luis Gonzalez has been shut down. Maybe get to see Taylor Jones (1B)?

Hjelle has put himself into the mix for rotation next year. Zaidi always likes to say he needs about 8 starters for a season and Kuiper feels hjelle has slotted himself to be #6 or #7.

Command is an issue for Hjelle right now, but as Krukow kept pointing out, when he's DOWN, he's tough!
Krukow was impressed with his slider.
Me? Not so much. It was up waaaay too much.
Those hang and get banged too often.

It was pointed out by Baggerly (I think) that Hjelle faced the heart of the Padres lineup so it gives him some confidence heading into next season. Right now, the rotation is Webb, Cobb and other guys so he's definitely going to be in the mix if Wood cannot go. Krukow mentioned this morning that they are going to go after Rodon but it might make sense to go after someone who may not require a lot of years such as DeGrom or Verlander.

Jester verlander's age concerns me.
I think the money would be better spent on Jacob DE graum,Who I think, one year after his Tommy John, is likely to come back and have a big season
