With each passing game it becomes more and more Apparent that our front office is absolutely inept.
I and others on this board said we needed to adddress the bullpen before the season began, but of course we did not. I called last year's bullpen success a fluke, and based upon what we've seen this year it is that and more.
Basically, outside of Camilo Doval there is no one down there that can be trusted.
We were behind when the season started and based upon the moves the Dodgers and Padres have made we are now light years behind them. And I don't see how this can be fixed in the next 2 to 5 years.

Almost everyone is to blame for this season. I'm pretty sure Kapler lost a lot of respect from the players and the fans when he sat out the National anthem (which seems to me when it all started to unravel.) At the same time you can't tell me Belt and Crawford aren't hitting because of that. Crawford has pissed me off a little bit this season, because it appears he was playing for his contract, once he got it he's been coasting.
I'm not sure if the pitchers are really that much worse than last season. Last season they had a lot of big early leads to work with, this season not so much. That makes a big difference for a pitching staff.
I could get really upset and rant about how they should be playing better, but the fact is we're a scrap heap team...we're probably playing much more realistically to our potential this season than we did last season.
The good news is we have young arms on the horizon who could potentially put us back in the post-season with a good chance of advancing past the first round.

We were behind when the season started and based upon the moves the Dodgers and Padres have made we are now light years behind them. And I don't see how this can be fixed in the next 2 to 5 years. Flemming feels the main area of concern is lack of growth in the minors. If they aren't having a sustainable pipeline of youngsters, then they will be forced to go more into free agents. I'm concerned that the organization (big club all the way down the chain) tends to go with a lot of excuses for poor performance such as Covid or the northern teams playing in areas that are too cold. Newsflash: the whole world is dealing with COVID and if you can't play in Eugene because it is too cold, how will that play out in San Francisco? What seems apparent to me is that team leaders such as Crawford and Longoria did not put in too much work this off season. Crawford complained of losing muscle memory and Longoria aggravated his injury only after he started ramping up after the lockout. Same with DeSclafani, Ruf, La Stella and probably Belt. The reason why Wilmer Flores is doing well this season is because he's doing the reps and working hard to improve. He's probably the hardest working of the Giants this season. I'm not saying that the players became couch potatoes during the lockout but it was obvious that their activity level was light and most of the injuries and re-injuries occurred during the shortened spring training. Earlier in the season, I mentioned that the usual wear and tear on players that happens in September would occur earlier (about June) because of the lockout. Turns out I may have been wrong. Some players like Belt, LaStella, Longoria, and Wade have had trouble getting on the field all season long. This is going to cost Belt and Longoria big time when their contracts are up. I can see Belt getting more of an incentive laden contract next season, Longoria might hang it up. Just because they had a lockout did not mean that they forgot their training methods or not keep active. It is painfully obvious that some teams were ready to play in 2022 and some were not. The malaise seems to have dripped from the top down and you could almost see it coming after they posted that 107 win season. Maybe slack off a little and still get 90 wins?

If Trea signs with east coast team, the Dodger might be aggressive in free agency. Part of the core of the team is getting old (Muncy, JTurner, Kershaw) and their pitching is starting to fall apart. I'm thinking Rodon might end up in LA and they might also go after one of the other big name FA SS. If Rodon goes to LA, I don't feel its a huge deal past 2023 because I feel he's going to drop off pretty soon.

The problem is if you gut the players you mentioned from the Dodgers roster they're still much better than the Giants. But the Dodgers have a ton of money and will either resign or upgrade most of those players. The Giants need to spend money to have a chance at competing next season.
There was a time when I felt they could fill in with young players from the organization but Farhan and Co. has decimated our coaching staff from top to bottom. The young players are simply fading away in the farm system.

Muncy is signed for 2023 and I think they will make an offer to Rodon. Cory Seager once said that Nolan Arrenado "Wanted to be a Dodger so bad" so he's a possibility for them.

The Dodger shopping list seems to be a starter or two, an outfielder, closer, and left side of infield. as you say, they probably will spend. I am reading from Heyman that he thinks the four teams in on Judge will be the Yankees, Giants, Dodgers, and Cubs so it might get tricky if they have to bid against the Dodgers.
Krukow was saying this morning that none of the playoff teams were pinching pennies so the Giants will have to spend either on payroll or player development and neither is cheap.

Hoping that Putila pays more attention to the system and that was his strength in Houston.
