I mean, that kind of says it all doesn't it. This guy is the dumbest base runner I have ever seen in my entire life!
I have seen smarter little league base runners than him

It is my opinion that baseball instincts aew NOT something that can be taught.
They are something LEARNED when a player is very young. And by young I mean 10-12.
Problem is this problem is NOT new to Giant players.
Dubon, recently, and further back Benard.
But these 3 are not the only base-clueless players we have seen. I just can't remember the others.
IMHO this is an organizational issue that hasn't been and ISN'T being addressed.

The minor leagues should be one of the highest priority things on the to do list.

But he still lacks basic baseball instincts

Boagie- Didn't Farhan already gut the coaching staffs in the farm system and replace them with his guys?

I’m not sure what you’ve been referring to about FZ gutting the farm system. The minor league staff has a lot of coaches and many have been there for years some going back to Evans days. Most of the switches were internal promotions. I verified by looking at the Giants' 2022 online media guide which lists everything within the system, including minor league staffing. In fact, earlier this year, they opened a new training facility in Phoenix which has six fields and a half sized indoor field so I don't think they were cutting minor league staffing. They did lose two affiliates (Augusta and Hagerstown) due to MLB's downsizing of the minor leagues. So, I guess you are correct that the farm system was gutted but I think it was due to MLB mandate, not FZ.
I do know that the Giants cut back on scouting because they felt they could see what they needed to using video footage. In 2019, they had twenty scouts, fired eight of them (including Brian Johnson and Andy Skeels) and replaced some of them, but I don't know how many or what their new roles were. I suppose it was less in-person scouting and more on the data driven side and also more focus on rookie leagues and Dominican leagues. I felt that was a bit cutthroat since many of those scouts were part of the championship run. What I'm thinking is that the fired scouts did not have the computer skill sets or language skills.

I'm hoping Putila will straighten things out because player acquisition and development is a big part of the Houston model. As I mentioned before, whoever they hire as GM has a chance to be Director of Baseball Operations in a few years if FZ is still putzing around.

Could very well be. But he still lacks basic baseball instincts Some of the radio guys want Houston to win because of Dusty. Not me. That one still hurts twenty years later.

I cannot pull for dusty Baker in any shape or form. When he was managing our team, and continually supported the progress of the young kids, he lost me. And that doesn't even begin to talk about pulling or tease pulling ortiz in the World Series

And that doesn't even begin to talk about pulling or tease pulling ortiz in the World Series I was rooting for the Phiilies but they were overmatched so I am content with LA being ousted so early. I read an article about Russ Ortiz and he was rooting hard for Dusty. His quote was “So happy for Dusty. I always root for that man. He is now a World Champion manager. Congrats to the Astros as well." Ortiz seems okay with it and I guess both of them feel some sort of closure over that incident but I still will not let it go.

I'm not angry at Dusty for making that move in the World Series, Reed. At the time, it "seemed" like a good move.
Personally, I wouldn't have done it, but I do understand it.
I can't root for Dusty for many reasons, not the least of which is that he simply would not give the kids a chance when there WERE times they could have played.
He forfeited their future growth for the "now," when the "now" wasn't that important during moments of each season.
I also didn't care for the way he ran the team. Like him better than what Kapler does, but still, I can't root for him.

The ex-Giants that will get a ring from Houston are Dusty, Dubon, and Will Smith. Also, Erick Threets who was on the team about 15 years ago will get one as a coach.
