True, very true.
But the thing is, he still needs to fish the pond... and I'd rather fish with multiple poles (players), than just one.
I can't understand why he doesn't realize that.
Or, and I hate to say this, is he just another in a gazillion millennials that believe they are smarter than everyone else?

Right now, Joey is making solid progress with the bat, and that is encouraging. He looks like he feels he believes. And as Mike krukow and Kuiper continue to point out, that's half the battle. It is obvious he still has a lot of learning to do, but I personally am impressed with how he overcame all the failure and as used it as motivation to get better. That requires a strong Constitution Joey was interviewed after the game and he sounded really confident yesterday. He was the one who called for the review on the play at the plate. If he stays on track, that will be one positive for this season.

from what I read, see and hear, he's slowly and quietly becoming a leader on the team, and will likely step forward more when many of the vets go.
Longoria's departure can't be soon enough for me, as well as La Stella (HUGE disappointment for me! I saw him play before we got him and though he was below average in range, he could HIT!)

NBCsports has a Pavlovic interview with Will Clark and Will specifically praised Casey Schmitt. I think Schmitt can end up replacing Longoria sooner or later. (the other two he mentioned were Vaun Brown and Kyle Harrison).

Sooner, PLEASE!
But what about Villar?
I like Villar a lot! But he has a lot of learning yet to do.
I just can't see him as a middle infielder or 1Bman

Will Clark praises a lot of people, most of whom never stick.

Will Clark praises a lot of people, most of whom never stick. If you are working as a minor league instructor, one cannot criticize prospects too much in public or in the media. Most of those kind of discussions need to take place behind closed doors. Will's praise of Brown, Harrison, and Schmitt are corroborated by the wehnthegiantscometotown blog so I think in this case they are valid.

Boly: La Stella (HUGE disappointment for me! I saw him play before we got him and though he was below average in range, he could HIT!)
LaStella's best season was 16 homers .295 with Anaheim> It seems like the best he can do nowadays is hit .250 and might end up with 5 homers tops. I think the Giants envisioned him to be one of those pest guys like Eckstein or Counsell but he has not really hit, has no speed, and a liability in the field. The year before the giants got him, he hit .280 with the Angel and A's and he looked like a slightly above average hitter but a liability if he is asked to play in the field or run.

And of course, we signed him to a multiple year contract.
This is what I was complaining about in another thread: BFF saddled Kapler with an UN-athletic team.
Poor range, station-to-station guys.
Again,THAT'S on BFF!!!
I say what I said then. 1- THAT is inexcusable
2-what he did and failed to do are fireable offenses because his moves did not and could not benefit the team.
Which is why I said that rumblings that he's still Dodger gave some validity

If a player is not available, he's useless. That's LaStella, DeSclafani, Longoria, etc.

Yep!
Unavailable is bad, slow and lacking range when they are available makes them doubly useless
