Well, after tonights performance, the Giants should expect to get a top return on their one big trading chip.. No doubt that he will opt out, so it would be a crime if Giants management neglected their fiduciary responsibility to do whats best for the club.. After seeing what the Reds were able to secure for a lesser Castillo, im really excited to see what we can get in return for a much more superior Rodon

I'm not so sure that Rodon will get a similar haul as Castillo. I agree that Rodon is a superior pitcher but Castillo has a extra year of team control attached to him and I think whoever picks up Rodon will not be able to extend him a qualifying offer if the same rules for qualifying offers apply to this year as last. So we are comparing 2 months of Rodon versus 2 months and one more season of Castillo.

I would also like them to trade Rodon but I don't expect them to get the haul that Castillo got for Cincinnati.

You make an excellent point Reed..However a pitcher of Rodon's caliber would put certain teams over the top..Take the Yankees who are DESPERATE for a starter..A trade for Rodon would be a major score and if that the case, you can rest assured that their competitors won't sit idly and will up the ante in a bidding war..Thats just the way I see it.The only thing stopping it, as I see it, is the stubborness on the part of Giants management. Lets do this!!

I keep hearing Minnesota but I thought the Yankees would be more aggressive. Montas going to the Yankees probably takes them out of the mix.

What I'm hearing this morning is that ownership is giving Farhan free reign to do whatever he needs to do. That means its going to be on him. On the radio this morning, Kuiper and Brian Murphy said that there is a lot more baseball to be played, even past the 2022 season and its all about getting the organization healthy again. However, yesterday, Krukow was hoping that they would buy. At any rate, there is the realization that they have to get better for 2023 and beyond because with two powerhouse teams down south and Arizona improving, there is urgency to improve.

That's what Pence said, too.
IMHO, they are both WAY OFF BASE!
You summed it up perfectly: "they have to get better for 2023 and beyond because with two powerhouse teams down south and Arizona improving, there is urgency to improve."
From what I'm seeing, SD and LA continue to UPGRADE while we don't do squat.
IF we are building from the farm, fine. But we haven't exactly seen that their choices are progressing nicely.
