Geez, this hurts to say, but I find myself applauding the Giants loss yesterday.
Of course I didn't get to see the game, but I read the reviews by Pavolvic and others.
Still, it's sad for a fan of so many years to be rooting for your rotten team to lose.
But as I said in a different thread, losing is the ONLY way for Farhan to, as the old saying goes "wake up and smell the roses."

Agree. The loss is better for long term.

It's not unreasonable, Boly. If I see the team isn't going in the right direction I wish them to lose as well, the more they lose, the faster changes will be made.

Fandom is a two way street. I would rather see honest failure than a futile attempt to secure a sixth seed playoff spot. This is not worth gutting the farm system for. This team is so bad that even four all stars won’t fix it.

But if we don't keep losing in the next 3 games, we're going to see Farhan 'go for it.'
Huge, huge mistake, that will set this team back at least a little.

Baggarly and Brisbee put up a piece in the Athletic today saying that the Giants migght end up going with a hybrid scenario where they are doing both buying and selling.
They brought up a frightening thought for 2023 where the Giants are currently ranked 29th in MLB in defensive runs saved but first on defensive runs saved because of shifts. MLB is considering rule changes limiting shifts up to the point of putting lines on the field resembling spokes on a bicycle wheel. If shifts are taken away, they would need to get better up the middle quickly. Trade targets would then be for SS, 2B, CF, and catcher. The one player they keep bringing up in trade scenarios is Doval and almost everyone in the system except Luciano and Webb might be on the table.

If they can get some quality players under 30 that don't cost us any of our top prospects, I'm fine with that. But I don't see the point of bringing a veteran here, when there's very little hope of beating the good teams in a playoff series.

I'm fine with getting some players who are under team control that don't cost the Giants the good prospects but I don't want them shopping for Soto or Contreras as a rental.
