From what I read this morning, it sounds as if Kapler had a meeting with the team, basically calling them out for their crappy, inconsistent play both on the field and at the plate.... and the pitchers (probably the bullpen) for flat out being awful!
IMHO, this was long... LONG over due.
It's one thing to deal with professionals in a manner that allows them to police themselves... but another to have played so many games with the same, lackluster play.
Alex Karros said it was not a case of the guys not trying or working hard, nor a case of a lack of focus...and to a point, I believe that.
But I also believe there is no sense of urgency from this group; no chemistry that marked last year's team.
I disagree with Karros about the team's focus.
what I see is:
1-little discipline at the plate on pitches up in the zone.
2-If they have a plan of attack, they abandon it all too quickly.
3-Pitchers getting behind in counts very early with too many hitters.
4-Professional ball players playing a position they've always played, and continuing to stink for so long.
Kapler should have called them out long ago. Long ago!
If they're going to be treated like professionals, then they should conduct themselves as professionals
