1-Too many "things" keep going wrong for this team. Too many 'inexplicable' things. Like Gonzalez losing that ball last night. I haven't seen THAT happen in years!
2-If we were to put a trade together for Soto, which I DON'T want, I'd include Gonzalez in the deal. He has way too many defensive mishaps for my comfort.
3-There was an article written by some woman about a deal for Soto as a must. She wants to include Webb. This is why I hate people who only know the game from what the color analyst saying writing articles.
The good teams start with pitching. Move Webb, and Rodon I'm betting is NOT coming back by HIS choice, and what's left? An aging Cobb and Wood and kids who "might" make it.
4-I go into the 'sell' mode before the deadline. And specifically I move Ruff, Flores and Longoria. Get something, anything for them now, before it's too late.
5-I like Estrada but at 2B, not SS. But overall, I'm disappointed in him. I expected a better season than .255ish
6-This team is too freaking slow! Flores, Ruf, Belt, Longoria, Crawford, Bart, Wynns...That's too long of a list. If Farhan can't see that, he's flat out blind.
7-For me, the luster has worn of Gonzalez. As I said above, too many defensive mishaps.

To be honest, if Farhan finds someone that has been left unexposed or on the waiver wire, there is a flaw. We are finding that out with Gonzalez, but also with more established Giants like Ruf or Yastrzemski. Slater seems to have picked up his game since Duggar was traded and he was on the bubble but I'm wondering now if the new guy on the bubble is not Wade Jr?

Initially he 'seemed' to have struck gold with Yaz and Gonzalez, but Yaz has turned into "Just another guy" in the outfield.
And Gonzalez simply isn't very good out there. In fact, he reminds me of Marvin Benard; Occasionally makes a good play, but all too often things "happen" to him.
As to Wade... he's really going through spring training DURING the season, and that has to be hard.
I'm going to hold off on putting him on the bubble until the middle of August.
My HUGE concern about him is that he almost NEVER hits the ball the other way. Strictly pull.
I always come back to this: What's it going to take for Farhan to see, really see that this club has no play off future.
Not that we won't make it because with health, odds are they will.
But it's going NO WHERE!
We are a team with too many station-to-station players.
In fact, even Captain Ego has said the same thing, albeit in different words, many times in the last couple of weeks.
Ruff, Long, Belt, La Stella, Flores and to some extent, Crawford.
We have to get more athletic. Have to!

What is frightening is that with that four game sweep by the Dodgers, the Giants are still only two back in the wild card for the sixth seed, mainly because Philly was swept by the Cubs. However, even if they manage to get in, it is not a team that can compete with a top tier team such as the Dodgers, Yankees, Astros, or Mets. Instead of going for Soto, maybe the more prudent thing would be to go after Judge or Trea Turner and not have to give up prospects. A Soto deal will torpedo the future that they've been working so hard to build.

You are echoing my thoughts perfectly!
Going after soto makes no sense at all

I'm not sure that the Giants would have the best package for Soto anyway. The Nationals are said to be demanding two all stars and three top prospects for Soto. From what I have been reading, the top suitors might be Yankees, Mets, and Padres. Padres seem to have the prospects and an aggressive GM so they might be more willing to go all-in on Soto, even as a two and a half year rental.
Our own prospects seem to be struggling quite a bit. Matos is hitting .177 in A+ ball and actually seems to have fallen behind Vaun Brown at Eugene. I'm not sure if it is poor development or if we are overvaluing our prospects. What frustrates me is that the stuff we are seeing on the major league level is going on in the minors. Bullpen games, crappy defense, lots of walks and lots of blowout losses. If you look at the whenthegiantscometotown blog which summarizes the system on a daily basis, you would not be happy with what you see. I'm not so sure that all of the prospects we thought would be blue chip players will pan out.

I predict the Mariners will land Soto. They have a logjam in their outfield that needs to go somewhere, and they have one of the best farm systems.

1-Soto will NOT save this team.
2- By giving up all we'd have to give up to get him, we'd be talent deficient for years to come. Cellar-dwellers would and should then be stamped on every uniform the players would wear.
What he would do is put fannies in seats.
If that's ownership's motivation...well, this is one fan they're likely to drive away.

If the Giants end up selling, I'd like to see Johnson (OF) and Diaz (2B) get a chance.

Boly: 1-Soto will NOT save this team.
The Nationals are probably the worst team in the majors with Soto. He's not enough to make any significant difference.

What can you tell me about either of these guys?
thing is, I LIKE Estrada at 2B... NOT so much at SS.
IMHO, he is one of the very few on the team playing his heart and fanny off each and every day, as he showed AGAIN last night.

Johnson was the guy who I posted the clip of a couple weeks ago. He has good glove but I think they don't like the fact that he strikes out a lot. Diaz is someone I don't know too much about but I think can upgrade the position defensively. Thairo is seen more as a utility player, not someone who should be forced to play every day. Crawford might be out for an extended length of time from what I've been hearing so, why not?

But they see Thairo as a utility guy? Seriously?
He's fast, he has very good range, he has a strong arm...
At the plate he goes the other way well, and you can see his growth weekly.
Shame if that's the way they view him.
Heck, I'm for ANYTHING that gets the slug-foots off the field and gets us more athletic.

Cant believe we had Luis Castillo until we foolishly traded him away for Casey Macgehee back in 2015 i believe. Another Saben gem.

I couldn't agree more, Mordy.
But why am I so sure Farhan isn't listening or even seeing what's right in front of his face...
