Without Longo, that's what 3B looks like so far.
Flores has been awful, and then last night, given a solid shot to turn the DP, Dubon screwed the pooch, as the saying goes.
Outside of Yaz's 2 spectacular plays last night, we've watched Crawford miss play a couple of balls, Thairo screw up a DP, and Dubon once again have a brain freeze on the bases.
I realize timing isn't there yet, but our AB's with runners on have not been good.
I'd say terrible, but that's pushing it a bit.
This team isn't good enough to have the kind of offensive gaffs we've had so far. Those kinds of things become as contagious as good hitting is contagious.
Still early, and NO REASON to reach for the panic button yet, but Kapler and crew can't be happy.
Outside off Ruf, who's hit into some bad luck, I'm not impressed with anyone's at bats except for maybe Estrada's, and he's still learning the pitchers.
Also, on the pregame show, Kapler mentioned that Flores is dealing with some "off the field stuff."
Anyone know what that is?

No idea what it is but they are treating Flores as if he had a physical injury.

Boagie- I've been impressed with Bart's at-bats. He's been showing patience while swinging with intent on mistakes.

And Crawford finally looked in his last couple of at bats that he's getting his timing, too.

If they return home unscathed, we can consider them fortunate. As it was, with the bats being cold, they were fortunate in Cleveland.

Sure enough, Alex Cobb has gone down with a tweaked adductor and Logan Webb lost his feel for the ball similar to the way he lost it against San Diego last September. The doubleheader losses were tough but the Mets may have finally assembled a good team over there, especially now that they have Scherzer. With Cobb going on the 10 day IL, the question is who they would replace him with. They brought up Marte in between games yesterday and did not use Beede so I"m thinking Beede slides into the number five slot.

Personally, I use Sammy Long, who may WANT to be called 'Sam' but I'm going to continue calling him Sammy.
he has looked pretty good in the appearances I've seen, and I do NOT want, walk the planet Beede out there.

They will have to use Beede eventually to see what he can or cannot do. He cannot be sent down to the minors because he is out of options and they can't have him take up a roster spot. If he doesn't show anything by the time rosters go down to 26 players, he's probably gone.

Personally, I'm okay with gone. But you are correct. They need to run them out there to see what he can do, or not do.

They pushed back Alex Wood's Friday night start in Washington to Saturday and Alex Pavlovic shared that Friday will be a bullpen game so we will probably get a chance to see Long and Beede.

The hits just keep on coming, don't they.

Good, call back Ramos who should've never been sent down.

Injuries have a way of sorting out the roster although I didn't expect Duggar to be the one to get injured. Lamonte Wade Jr is going on rehab assignment this weekend and Kapler does not think he will need a long rehab. La Stella was supposed to be the one who was closest to returning but he has not started rehab. Even Longoria is taking swings. Remember last season when we thought the Giants' injury level was epidemic proportions? Because of the lockout, this season might end up being worse. Even though they did not lose any games off of the 162 game season, the effects of another shortened spring training will be costly. Players such as Ramos, who were not locked out might end up having a bit of an advantage since they had the extra time to ramp up.

Based on the type of injury, I thought Duggar's would have kept him out about a month. I think they used it as an excuse to free up the roster spot by putting him on the 60 day IL.
