Austin Slater (player rep) says that is a done deal, but no other movement on negotiations.

Sad day for baseball, but I'll get over it.

Sad day for baseball, but I'll get over it. this morning, Krukow had an interesting response. He said that with all the poor at-bats our pitchers had, he was not sad to have them implement the universal DH.

Not sure I understand. What's a done deal? The DH or no dh?

There likely will be a DH in the NL

I didn't think I would ever support the DH in the national League but I actually do.

One of the most exciting moments of 2021 was Webb's homerun on the last day of the season. It was very similar to Jonathan Sanchez's triple in the final regular season game of 2010. It was entertaining to watch Bumgarner hit homeruns off Kershaw, and it was equally entertaining to watch a relief pitcher who had no clue how to hit, square one up. I'll miss those moments.
As for Krukow, he's paid to promote Giants baseball, of course he's going to say he agrees with the DH now that they've implemented it, but all of last season him and Kuiper seemed against the idea.

it's part of the game that has been taken away.
I think where Krukow is coming from is that the pitchers don't pay much attention to anything except pitching and neglect things like bunting and he did not care for all of those crappy at bats. I don't like the way that everything goes more to the specialization. Pitchers need to learn how to hit in order to stay in the games longer and to keep them honest if they hit opposing batters.
What made Bumgarner's at bats special were that his home runs were "big boy" home runs and not cheap shots. We will miss that.

I don't disagree... but watching our clods, and so many other around the league was depressing.
What happened to guys who can BUNT, much less swing the bat!
Our guys stunk at that, too!

Freddie Freeman supposedly has rejected a 5Y/$135mm from the Braves and is seeking a 6 year deal. Dodgers likely do not want to go the sixth year. I think it might take 6y/$160mm. If he is used as a DH a lot and not on the field all the time, this might be do-able. They were willing to go 12 years with Bryce Harper and Harper has better OPS. From what I've read on the Dodgers side, they may not want to sign Freeman if it keeps them from signing Trea Turner.

Huh...I'd always heard and believe Freeman was an outstanding defender. Even Strat-O-Matic has always rated him a "1." That's the highest rating you can get. And Strat has always been very accurate.

Freeman is a good defender but I was thinking about three years down the line.
