I saw where the Giants refuse to let Bailey move to another team to be bench coach, and though I applaud the move, I'm kind of curious as to what they're going to offer him.
If the move to the Mets was a step up, I would think the Giants have to offer him something similar for him to stay, and not create bad blood.

I would imagine the Giants talked to Andrew before they denied the Mets request.

I would like to think they had to, too. Still I'm curious what the terms areTo

From what I've read, they do not view the move from pitching coach to bench coach as a step up so its not like it was blocking a promotion. Also, the Mets made their move too late and the Giants felt it would be difficult to replace a pitching coach this late in the off-season. supposedly, Bailey has ties with Eppler but the timing was bad. Also, the Mets have a reputation around the league for blocking similar moves so turnabout is fair play. As far as moving up to become a future manager, if Bailey is on the Mets or the Giants, both offer about the same level of opportunity. On the Giants, the pitching coach is probably the second in command in the Zaidi system.
Bailey is not the first choice for Mets bench coach because they were also trying to get Ryan Flaherty (close to Showalter, also denied permission because of the timing) and Jeff Pickler. Remember, there is a lockout going on and the timetable has accelerated. The Giants will need to hit the ground running when the lockout ends. They can't afford to have any lag time.

Yesterday, the Mets hired Jerome Williams and Tommy Joseph to their minor league affiliate.
Earlier in the off season, I'm not sure who the Mets blocked on their own staff but they blocked a couple of their own coaches from being interviewed by other teams so its only fair that what goes around comes around. The Mets being the Mets probably is not the ideal employment situation as Jeff Pickler removed himself from consideration.

Yesterday, the Vikings interviewed the 49ers defensive coordinator for the head coach position. That is ethical if its a promotion and not a lateral transfer.
