Rog is gone, for good this time.
If you'd like to discuss it, be my guest.
I used to like Rog and I overlooked a lot of his faults, but he's gotten significantly worse over these last few years and it's impossible to deal with him anymore. I think we come here to enjoy some free time talking baseball, but with Rog around it made it an angry time for me. I don't want to be angry anymore...life is too short for that.
Sorry if it upsets anyone.

Belittling others has no place. Thank you. The dude can't back down even when presented evidence. You gave him more than enough chances but it's impossible to have a two way discussion.

Thank you, boagie and I want to echo exactly what read said.
For whatever the reason, he always had to take shots at others, and that got old really fast.
For whatever my opinion is worth, you did the right thing, and have my total support.

From what I understand, Boagie was gracious enough to give Rog many chances and for some reason, he always turns a message board into some kind of competition. Its one thing to do this on a message board as a "keyboard warrior" but one hopes he does not do this face to face with people. I wish him well and good luck to his family, but he can play "my dog is bigger than your dog" somewhere else.

For whatever my opinion is worth, you did the right thing, and have my total support. The thing that bugs me is that even if we came up with valid responses, there was no backing down and a lot of cheap shots. The truth is, no one cares whether DeSclafani is a number two, not our board, not the Giants, and probably not even DeSclafani himself. Also, to be honest, the Dodgers' use of the opener in game 5 might not have made that much of a difference. Its not worth eight weeks of discussion and certainly not the little rock I would spend time to choose to defend.

Reed, I've known Roger for a long time, and that is the way he's always been.
I used to email back and forth with him about baseball... but he wanted to discuss the game as if we were sitting next to each other and did so with incredibly long emails to make his point.
It didn't matter what I said to disagree or offer a counter point of view.
Nothing ever influenced him or changed his mind.
HE was right and what the heck was wrong with me for not seeing his point?!?!?
That got old.
Then the elections came up.
He was a Trump hater not because he disagreed necessarily with his politics. He didn't like HIM.
He brought up things from his past that weren't particularly nice and when I countered with things like, "I sure don't want to be judged now for how I was 20 years ago... that was ignored.
On and on and on he rambled.
There was no talking to him.
Finally, as I've said before, I gave him one more chance... and when he violated that, I blocked his emails for good.
However, I voted to give him another chance and come back to the board...
Sigh... No good.
He hadn't changed or even compromised even one bit.
Mark said he and Mordy would come back if we let Rog back... but that didn't happen.
There were 4... maybe 5 posts from Mark and he disappeared.
That was sad for me because Mark is a very, very bright and astute baseball guy and I loved reading his posts.
But I fear the political thing pushed him away.
Like the world is everywhere today, if you disagree with someone's politics, relationships end.
Sad... very, very sad.

What the pattern was was that he would choose to use the stats he wanted to use and minimize whichever stats made him look wrong. Also, I did not care for the way he was an apologist for the Dodgers.

Thanks for your support in my decision both of you. Sorry I haven't been around much, I was dealing with Covid and then my Golden Retriever passed away. It's been a rough week plus for me, but things will eventually get back to normal for me.
Not much to post about at this moment with the lockout, and my head hasn't been on baseball, but I will be back posting when there's more to talk about.

Sad... very, very sad. To be honest, Rog was typing into the void. Most of those political posts of his made on the politics board I didn't bother to read and will not read later. Doesn't matter if I agree with him or not, the dude can be rude, Also, he typed so much ad nauseum about DeSclafani and the Dodgers using the opener that one gets the impression that Rog's favorite thing is to hear himself talk.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog.
If you're like me, our dogs become one of the family.
It hurts when they pass.
As for Covid, I hope you had a mild case, and not like mind last December.

Absolutely, Boly. I'm not married, I don't have kids, both my parents are gone..he wasn't just part of my family, he was my family, he was all I had. We went through a lot together, including both my parents passing and 3 World Championships..so it's heart breaking to not have him there anymore for the good and bad times. The silver lining - it was his time, he was struggling with cancer, he lived a great life and now he's in a better place.

Loved her so much I just couldn't get another to replace her.
Frankly, there was no replacing her so my wife and I have done without.
But I think about her all the time, boagie... all the time.

Sorry for your loss, Boagie.
I just looked at the list of topics on the politics section of the board with all of the "My buddy" topics and it is scary to think what must be going through his mind. I'm not a fan of Trmp but Rog went too far. I think I may have to take the step of blocking his e-mails.
