Good news, Trump supporters. You're not supporting our worst president ever. He's only second-worst:
U.S. News for the first time included President Donald Trump, as his term has ended, who is the second-worst president overall, according to U.S. News’ most recent methodology.
PRESIDENT USN RANK C-SPAN (2021) SIENA COLLEGE'S PRESIDENTIAL EXPERT POLL (2018) PRESIDENTIAL GREATNESS SURVEY (2018) James Buchanan 1 1 2 2 Donald Trump 2 3 3 1
Man, that James Buchanan must have been horrible. I'm going to make a prediction though. When all the information is in, I think it will show how much responsibility Trump bears for the deaths. lost jobs and economic devastation of COVID, and I think it will show how horribly he performed on January 6th, the day when even his relatives somehow couldn't get him to call off the dogs for hours.
I think he'll drop down to last. I can't imagine what Buchanan could have done that was worse.

Here is what Buchanan did:
As President, Buchanan intervened in the Supreme Court to gather majority support of the pro-slavery and anti-black decision in the Dred Scott case. He did what Southern leaders wanted in attempting to engineer Kansas coming into the Union as a slave state under the Lecompton Constitution. He thereby angered not only the Republicans but also many Northern Democrats. Buchanan honored his pledge to serve only one term, and supported Breckinridge's unsuccessful candidacy in the 1860 presidential election. He failed to reconcile the fractured Democratic party due to a simmering grudge against Stephen Douglas, leading to a four-way electoral split and the election of Republican and former Congressman Abraham Lincoln.
Buchanan was lousy, but at least he lived up to his pledge to serve only one term, and that led to our greatest president becoming president.

How does Trump rank as a conservative? Wikipedia says conservatives stand for:
1. Low taxes -- check
2. Free markets -- no, Trump increased tariffs
3. Deregulation -- check
4. Privatization -- check
5. Reduced government spending and debt -- This was Trump's greatest weakness as a conservative. He pledged to balance the budget, but instead ran up the national debt more than any other president in history. COVID could be looked at as an extenuating circumstance -- except that Trump could have gotten on the virus before it got out of control, and he failed to do so. In addition, because of his tax cut, he had run up a large ($2 trillion) deficit BEFORE COVID

How does Trump rank with regard to promoting democracy? The Journal of Education and Practice says the four elements of democracy are:
1. A system of choosing and replacing the government through free and fair elections -- no, Trump is still attempting to overthrow the presidential election, even after the Supreme and 60 other courts declared it fair. I realize there are some here who believe the election was stolen, but they have no significant evidence, which is why the courts threw Trump's suits out of court. Evidence doesn't matter to Trump or many of his followers, but it matters mightily in a court of law. That's our judicial system, which is one of the three prongs of our balance of power in government.
2. Active participation of the people, as citizens, in public and civic life -- no, Trump didn't give even his White House staff much freedom. It was almost literally his way or the highway.
3. Protection of human rights of all citizens -- no, human rights was and is an area of weakness for Trump.
4. A rule of law in which the laws and procedures apply equally to all citizens -- no, Trump applied the law differently depending on how he viewed someone's loyalty to him. Cross him, and he would blast you on social media. Support him, and he would go as far as pardoning your convictions.
