The more I watched Donovan Solano on defense, the more I realize what a poor defensive player he really is.
When he was hitting 300 and above, earning himself the nickname of Donnie barrels, his defense could be tolerated.
But for whatever the reason, he's just not hitting like he was, and now his defensive shortcomings are becoming more and more accentuated everyday.
Saturday's game against the Phillies once again provided multiple instances where Salado just simply couldn't, or didn't make the play.
Odubel Herrera's ground ball is the first one, and Posey's attempt to catch vierling stealing would be the second.
From my experience, and what I see, is he has hard hands, which, when I was playing would have earned him the nickname of "Clank!"
Many of us feel that Evan Longoria doesn't deserve all the accolades he gets for his defense, but his hands are pretty sure and you did not see him watching plays time and time again like we see from Donovan Solano.
If I'm the general manager, he's a piece I would be looking to move before the trading ends, because I think we can get better defense from Mauricio dubon out there oh, maybe not too bad, but certainly the defense.
And besides that, Tommy lastella will be back, and I would much rather have his defense out there which isn't all that good either, then solano's
