I was sitting there watching the Giants stink up the Galaxy again, in game 2 of yesterday's double header and it occurs to me that we really have no business being where we are.
I mean, consider:
Yaz and Dickerson for one reason or another, and we a game here or there, have been down right awful at the plate.
No way on God's green earth could any of us seen their terrible at bats coming and coming like this.
Flores, Belt, Solano and Tauchman have been awful, too, as has been Casali.
And when La Stella was healthy, he was on beyond terrible!
That means ONLY Posey, Crawford and Longoria, now out for a month, have been the ONLY regulars peforming!
Yeah, for the most part our starters have been tremendous, but the bullpen has blown...how many games? 6? 7? 8?
And how many more times will they implode and ruin a game for the team?
My point is, it does make you wonder, at least it makes ME wonder, how we've done this?
For instance, look at yeserday's line ups:
Vossler, a rookie not hitting
Duggar, slumping.
Tauchman, not hitting
Flores, better recently, but still no where near himself.
Wade, a rookie
Solano, NOT hitting
Yaz, certainly NOT himself before getting hurt, and not swinging the bat well all year.
Belt, coming off an injury and his timing is WAY off!
Casali, coming back from injury and he wasn't doing well before he got hurt!
That's a ton of guys playing no where near up to expectations or their history.
Timely hitting, yes, I know, but that only belies and distracts from the question: how in the world are they doing it?
And my answer is...I haven't got a clue!
But we are where we are, and I'm feeling like this season is shaping up to be something special.
Maybe not a WS appearance, but certainly better than we'd all hoped for.
