… with all everything Dodgers. How can that be? First off LAD are just not the same as last year. Yet they have great pitching but they are 2.97 ERA, the Giants are 2.94, and the Padres are 2.75 for are 3-2-1 in team ERA in the NL.
In fielding the Jints are first at .991 Fielding %, the Dodgers are 20th at .981 and the Padres down to 29Th in the NL at .976- their Achilles heel.
But the Giants are lacking in consistent hitting at 24th at ,215. The Padres are .233 and the Dodgers at .245. The whole league started out hitting poorly and of the 30 MLB teams only 5!!! are above .250.
But the Giants HR power that was manifesting itself in spring training has continued and so this team is like Baltimore's old coach Earl Weaver who said his preferred team had good pitching, great fielding (Brooks Robinson) and the 3 run home run.
For sure the key batters in this team are a refurbished Longoria and a fresh Buster Posey who deliver batting average and run producing power. Shortstop (Crawford and Dubon) are sure handed. Is it enough? we will see over the next two weeks
