Based upon what I saw in tonight's game, I've come up with a couple of nicknames which, again based upon tonight's game, are well deserved.
1- Evan Longoria, human rally killer. Never seen a rally he couldn't extinguish
2- Mauricio Dumb- A_ _ Dubon.
No excuse tonight for what he did on the basis, and it's not the first stupid play he's done at the bases this year.
You play baseball as long as he has, and you should know better.
3-Cough-it-up Johnny Cueto.
I know he's coming back from Tommy John surgery, and he said it was very, very good career.
But in his last six seven eight nine starts he simply hasn't been very good.
Yeah, like we have any other choices to throw out there.
4- the Giants bullpen- the beat me up again boys.
There's probably more oh, but that's all I can think of right now.
Talk about a team that had no plan going to the play tonight that would be the Giants

Dubon reminds me a lot of Angel Pagan. Dumb in almost all aspects of the game (base running, reading fly balls and which base to throw to) but he has the athleticism to correct the bad reads, much like Pagan did. I still like him, and hes young enough to maybe correct some of the bad decisions in the future. Would be nice to see someone work with him this offseason to get that done, perhaps Barry.

Farhan has historically not paid attention to bullpens even back when he was with the Dodgers. His philosophy seems to be to have bullpen pitchers improve themselves rather than go after them on the free agent or trade markets. That works if your starters are studs but not if the starters routinely go five.
The team had exceeded my preseason expectations by nine wins but I still don’t feel happy because so many losses came as a result of stupid play.

Bogey, you hit it right on the button!
His ridiculously stupid baserunning blunders do remind me to Angel Pagan!
Well said!
But, like you, I still like Mauricio Dubon.
He is definitely not repeating not shortstop! His footwork is all wrong!
But he has played a pretty good Centerfield, efficient he had to learn during the season!
And that cannot have been easy.
I can live with rookie mistakes, I don't like them, but I understand them and can live with them.
I cannot live with Mistakes by veterans, who should know better.
Like I said, bogey. Great post!

I did not know that about Farhan, Reed thank you so much for pointing it out.
That being the case, that is a huge, huge hole in his game that's a shot caller.
In that respect he reminds me of football coach Mike Martz.
All Marts cared about was offense. His idea of defense was something that you had to put up with while he was creating something to do on offense.
I am with you, that this team has far exceeded anything I thought they could do.
But as I said when responding to Bogey's post, stupid mistakes caused by not having your head in the game is something I just don't tolerate.
I did not tolerate it from me, when I was playing I did not tolerate it when I was coaching, and I certainly don't tolerate it from professionals.
So yeah, the team exceeded expectations.
But I cannot forget that in chasing this outside shot at the playoffs, they sacrifice developing players like Jalen Davis and others. And that could come back to haunt us next year

Dubon has a good attitude about playing wherever he is asked to. Before he got to the Giants, he was a good defender. This guy is not dumb. He might be having trouble djusting to the Giants' system. His baserunning will need special attention as well as getting used to all the different angles employed by the shifts.

Agreed, he's not dumb. In fact, I think he's going to be a very, very solid CF...and maybe, someday... may...be... a leadoff guy.
My issue with Dubon at SS was not his ability to catch the ball. He was quite adept at that.
What he doesn't have is the footwork required for the position.
He holds the ball...crow hops and then throws.
I'm not sure that can be "un" taught.
From my experience a lot of that ability is natural; instinctive.
And as much as Crawford has frustrated me these last 2 years, HE has outstanding footwork which I believe, is instinctual.
