Well, here we are again, approaching another trade deadline, the 2nd in Farhan's reign.
And once again as we approach that deadline, we're in the middle of another streak.
Or maybe, illusion is a better word.
And thus we have Another Farhan Challenge.
Will he do as he did last year, foolishly believe he can get to the playoffs?
Keeping a trade able player (Bum) for a false hope?
If he again chooses this route, I, for one, will seriously have to question his sanity.
Even if we DO manage to make the playoffs, we aren't going anywhere.
Not with the bullpen we have.
Actually, I think 'bullpen' is the wrong word.
What we have is a gas-depot, where the guys down there just throw fuel on the fire.
I hope he's learned his lesson, I really do.
Randy was right last year. We should have moved Bum and at least gotten something decent.
But I fear he has not.

We have a 6% chance of making the playoffs if stats geek numbers are to be believed. Surely Farhan gets those numbers, too. Our chances today are less than last year.
There is a limit to what we can trade for. This year has a wrinkle where only players on the 60 man roster are eligible for trade. This might make guys like Pence or Sandoval harder to move.

We can put to bed any blockbuster trade ideas involving Pence, he was just DFA'd.

Pence was DFA'd to make room for a .230 hitting utility man.

Farhan is taking a flyer on the guy, and I say, why not?
Flyer's worked on Chris Taylor, Muncey, Justin Turner, Yaz, Solano and others.
It's worth the shot, IMHO

Pence was DFA'd to make room for a .230 hitting utility man. I like Pence a lot. He gave everything he could on every play. This year he seemed to have nothing left. He will remain a Giants' hero. Kapler, who I'm not fond of, said the idea was to give the younger outfielders more of Pence's at bats. And that makes sense. I hope it was not solely to get a low hitting glove and perhaps speed (pinch runner) in the system. But maybe he does come to the Giants as a late inning defensive replacement. With a bigger roster allotment this year they can afford to do that.

I bet the 26 player roster sticks, and likely the DH too.

I like the 26 players on the roster, boagie, but I do NOT want the DH to stay, though I'd bet money that the player's Union will make sure it does.
Sad...There goes strategy right out the freaking window.

Gary:
Besides Hunter looking over matched at the plate for most of his at bats, to my eye, he was a very large defensive liability in the outfield.
Personally, I loved what Pence brought to the team and to the game.
He ran EVERYTHING out!
Not like Lazy Flores who, in at least 3 at bats that I saw last week, jogged to 1B after hitting a weak ground ball.
I loved Hunter's attitude, his energy, how he taught, supported and encouraged young players.
The word "throw back" is thrown around a lot in today and in recent years, but for Hunter, it FITS!
He loved the game, and played it they way I believe most of us would.
Sorry, so sorry to see him go, but IMHO, it was necessary.
Sigh...

I don't want the DH either, Boly, but the powers that be in MLB want to force it on us.
