Prior to this season beginning, Alex Pavlovich and a couple of other writers thought that, with so many teams in the playoffs, we stood at least a chance to make them.
Me?
I never believed that for one second.
Too many holes.
So, going in I was looking forward to watching for 2 reasons and ONLY 2 reasons:
1-To watch the kids play and grow up.
2-To see what Farhan could get in return for Crawford, Belt and maybe even Longoria.
Well, the only kid we're getting to see is Yaz, Dubon, and a couple of pitchers.
I wanted to see Davis, and Bart and a couple of others whether thee were ready or not.
I wanted to be able to see them make mistakes and watch them grow.
But Kapler has denied us that.
Now, I have a 3rd reason to watch:
To see how badly Kapler can screw up so that Farhan has no choice but to show him the door.
Problem is, I truly believe we are going to see how stubborn, how egotistical Farhan is because no matter how poorly Kapler does, I do not believe he'll back down and admit he was wrong.
He'll blame the players, and the fact that many weren't ready for the bigs, totally IGNORING Kapler's continued asinine and idiotic moves.
He'll make any excuse he can to NOT admit he made a mistake.
As they say, time will tell, but I'm betting we're stuck for Kapler for 3 seasons.
Gonna be a long 3 seasons, boys.

Belt and Crawford have zero trade value, just as before. Not only are they nonproductive, this year all teams are losing money. No one can afford to take them. We are stuck. We haven't been able to trade them for the last three years and the pandemic makes things worse. No one wants out of shape or dis- engaged players.
More likely, we will be trading Cueto, Gausman, Smyly, or Watson. Might even get a grade D player for Pablo or Pence.

I have to disagree, reed.
For a team in need of a solid, defensive SS, Crawford would be a good rental, same as Belt.
Cueto is making a bold statement, too.
After last night's performance, he'll be in demand.
Heck, ANYTHING we get for them is a plus.

We’ve been trying to dump Belt and Crawford for three years. All of a sudden that changes?

No one will trade for Belt or Crawford. They'll be on the hook for their 2021 salary. Its not a rental.

Even if another team was willing to take on Belt and/or Crawford's contracts, why would they want them? Crawford has already mentally retired, and every team has a better first baseman than Belt.
I love Belt and Crawford, but they gave up on playing competitive baseball a while ago.

As the old saying goes, "we'll see."
