After 10 games, these are my impressions:
The Padres, the Dodgers and the Rockies all came out of the gate prepared and ready to play MLB.
The Giants did not, and I base that statement on 2 things:
1-Horrific defense.
There is simply no excuse for leading the major leagues in errors.
None!
By last count, we had 17!
2-Pitchers that can't throw strikes.
Webb 5 in 10 ip Smyly 4 in 8 ip Cueto 6 in 12.2 ip S. Anderson 5 in 5ip T. Anderson 6 in 6 ip
Absolutely unacceptable.
It is my opinion that sloppy play is a reflection on leadership; in this case, Kapler.
Poor performance is usually a reflection on leadership, whether it's professional sports or in the business world.
After 10 1/2 games I've seen no improvement in any aspect of the Giant's performance.
When everything was shut down, Kapler and staff had all of these super-whoopie, analytics based plans.
Either the players didn't buy into them, or the plan was faulty.
I'm going with the later.
And that's the problem with "creative, new" plans and veterans.
There will likely be a lot of resistance.
I also think our female coach is not only a distraction, but part of the problem.
I just can't see Major League baseball players buying into what she's trying to accomplish.
Just my opinions.
