It's now well documented that the Giants offered Madison a 4 year contract worth $70 million. In retrospect, Jeff Samardzija, after a horrible season in Chicago, was offered a 5 year $90 million contract by the Giants. Not only that, Madison was younger, had the post-season reputation and is considered a threat at the plate. The Giants gave more respect to Jeff than they did to Madison after underpaying Madison for 10 seasons in which he helped us win 2 Championships and almost single-handedly won us our 3rd. To not offer him AT LEAST the same contract as Jeff is not only an insult Madison, but also shows a lack of consistency at assessing the value of players. It's an embarrassment to the Giants organization on both ends of these two deals.

Wow! That's well said, boagie!
I agree totally.
It was a 'token' offer, and insulting, token offer, but a token offer just the same.
