….. The Dodgers whiffed on Bumgarner, and Cole and actually lost a SP in Ryu to Toronto. They also missed on Rendon going south by about 40 miles to Anaheim. Still active in seeking a bat, and any SP.
The DBacks did get Madbum but have been quiet elsewise.
The Giants and Padres have been relatively non public player pursuits.
Any inputs?

BTW FYI OT: Star Wars- Rise of Skywalker
I got a chance to see Skywalker on Sunday at noon. Expecting a big crowd I made reservations for seats and got there early. …Empty Then just 5 minutes before screening maybe 10-15 people showed up. Still lots of Christmas shopping?
The movie…. good action movie, not the best. You could go in with a check list and scratch off each of the expected appearances one by ne. Even Liam Neeson showed up in a brief scene. And of course Leia (Carrie Fisher) got her many minutes (through CGI). And Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford had their moments. All in tying up the relations. Billy Dee Williams has the most of the oldies moments and adds some energy to the show. But thank goodness only a glimpse of the Ewoks (at the end) and no Jar Jar Binks (good choice). Chewbacca has a big (SIC) role (not Peter Mayhew) and a emotional moment, believe it or not.
The strength is the good versus evil and that’s consistent , as well as the aliens (who might have many of the best lines). About 3 new ones and a new slithery monster. Plus a new cutesy Robot (voiced by J Abrams). The planet with the Hang-10 100 foot waves adds visual impact. And the usual bad guys get their justice.
This was not a movie of character development but of perseverance. And the nods to the beginning roots are there in some locations and the ending which resembles the first star wars movies in attacks on the baddies. Overall a good movie, not the best and I give it a solid B for its resolution of an epic.

I have decided not to see this one in the theaters. Too many times I've been dissapointed, and they keep getting worse than the last one.

I have decided not to see this one in the theaters. Too many times I've been dissapointed, and they keep getting worse than the last one. Its an epic.. clocks in at 2 1/4 hours. But it goes fast. Seeing it in 3D with surround sound and big screen does provide eye candy and great immersion sound effects and listening to that solid John Williams score. I used to see 2-3 movies a week but now see less than 3 a year. This was a decent one to select IMO. Its not the same in even wide screen TV with surround sound. Add in reclining chairs in the theatre and I can still enjoy that.

I flat out refuse to go to the theater any more.
I'm not in that much of a hurry that I can't wait for the blue ray to come out, and watch it in the comfort of my home where I can replay something I might have missed.
As to the off season...
Another day, another day of inaction...
It's gotten old.
Just plain old.

Ditto the Dodgers. there were two newspapers here that are cursing the Dodgers management for being so stagnant in ways to improve the team. Buhler is an ace but the rest of the SP is looking pretty mediocre.
Arizona has done a few good things , the Giants are leaning more on the farm club and search of the next undiscovered hitter ala Max, the Padres are quiet after the big splash signing of last year.

Dodgers can't get over the hump, when they've been given more than enough from their owners to do so. No surprise if the owners aren't willing to shell out much more.

The money is there... but the local news is scalding them for lowballing a lot. They missed out on Ryu by not offering him that one extra year. The club has a good core of players but there may be worried by some decline on key players including Bellinger's drop-off in the second half (tired?). Some of their key farm guys have plateaued out it seems. They are after a power hitting shortstop, dangling multiples of those plateaued guys and farm prospects in exchange.

The owners definitely have plenty of money, the question is are they willing to waste it on a team that has proven time and time again that they can't win a World Series.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving organization, Gary; to have hosed themselves.
Good for Ryu!
They lost out on Cole, and now Ryu.
Glad he's out of our division.
