It's my opinion, but since Pillar wasn't tendered a contract, and the fact that Farhan mentioned Duggar being healthy and the signing of Slater and Dickerson...it looks to me as if the youth movement part II is underway.
I would have liked to have hung on to Pillar, but this team is going no where for a while, and it's time to do what we should have done last year; dump the vets and let's see what the kids can do.
I'm still hopeful that Belt will get dealt, and that we'll get a chance to see an extended look at Chris Shaw at 1B... but I'm not holding my breath, that's for sure.
I'd also like to see Crawford moved, but that, IMHO, is even less likely than Belt being moved.
I'm hoping Farhan starts to kick things into gear soon, because I hate waiting.

One guy on their radar is slugger Nicolas Castellanos who played for Chicago (most recently) and Detroit last year. At 27 he hit a collective .289/ .337 OPS/ .525 Slg/ .862 OPS. He averaged 25 HR and 88 RBIs the last 3 years and is a right hander.

That would be a very good player to add, Gary, good call.

New Giants GM was with the Cubs so he saw Castellanos up close and was obviously impressed. Would be a great addition. And Boly, don’t forget about Jaylin Davis in that OF mix. He didn’t hit when called up, but Zaidi remains high on him.

And just because he didn't hit in his few at bats doesn't concern me at all.
I'd like to see a lot of him in spring, and then, hopefully, he does enough to make the team.
I was originally excited about the Castellanos potential signing...and then I read up on his defense and base running, neither of which is very good.
He played RF for the Cubs, and previously played 3B... where he was terrible.
I'm reminded of the comments about Orlando Cepeda when they moved him to LF for a period of time to accommodate young Willie McCovey at 1B.
When asked how Orlando was in LF, Felipe Alou replied; "He was a butcher."
I haven't seen him play enough to know one way or the other, but those aren't good reports I'm reading.
And further, why did Detroit let him go, and then Chicago not resign him?
Those are questions to which I'd like answers.
