Glad to hear Bochy say this himself because Boagie accused me of fake news when I mentioned it. If any team wants him this year I wonder if they could work out a deal where one of his buddies like Wotus or Flannery serves as interim manager for a year.

I didn't accuse YOU of fake news, I accused you of being misled by fake news. It turns out maybe he does have interest in managing again, but the original reports were still just an assumption. This one is obviously more credible because it came from straight from Bochy's mouth. So I guess you and others saw more insight about the possibility than I.

To me, it's just one more indicator of a couple of possibilities:
1-They told Boch that there were going to make a change after the season
2-Boch didn't like the direction the club was headed under Farhan; i.e. more numbers based than that with which he was comfortable
I think # 2 is the most likely

The problem with that theory is just about all of the teams have adopted sabermetrics into the way they do business. I dont think Bochy had a problem with Farhan or the direction the Giants were going, I think he merely wanted time away. But I was wrong about Bochy wanting to manage again, so I could be wrong about why he wanted to retire too.

I actually believe it’s number one, Boly, although I’m sure that Zaidi was very kind with how he handled a highly respected manager and probably offered him a front office job in the future if he was interested. A new broom sweeps clean and I’m sure Zaidi wants his own man to manage the team. Probably someone he worked well with in Oakland or LA. If Bochy surfaces somewhere else in 2021 does he have to give all the retirement gifts back?

And Farhan was VERY kind to Boch and his staff.
