We have 6 guys arbitration eligible.
Some I like, others I don't like, and one simply isn't worth the 1.1 million he'd get, though I do like him.
Pillar-To me, this is a flat out no brainer!
Duggar can't stay on the field, and frankly, when he was healthy, was not, IMHO, the CF I'd read about.
I've said it before, he does NOT go back on balls hit over his head very well.
By contrast, Pillar catches darned near everything everywhere.
Barraclough-2.1 million.
No how, no way. Too much money for a guy who didn't show that he was worth half that regardless of his history.
Solano-1.1 million, but I think he's worth it. He can back up 2b and SS, and he can hit some, too.
Dickerson-1.2 million. For me, another no brainer. If he can stay healthy, he can flat out hit!
Rickard 1.1 million. I really, really like Joey. But not at that price. He can run, and play good defense, but for a 4th outfielder, that's too much money.
Perralta-.8 No how, no way. I've never thought much of this guy, and if we can't find a LH who can pitch better and more consistently, we aren't trying hard enough.

Sadly, Boly, as much as I like Pillar, he might be traded. Hes a free agent after next season, so if the Giants lose Bumgarner they might just go into full rebuilding mode and jettison anyone that can bring back young talent for the future. If that happens, everyone on this list becomes a no, and they all become trade bait.

If we were to go to full rebuild mode, I understand the trade could really help.
Here's the thing about a "full" rebuild, though.
1-That means that Belt and Crawford would or should be traded.
2-Who patrols CF if we move Pillar. Duggar? He can't stay on the field.
My personal thoughts are we won't go "full" rebuild.
Ramos and Bart aren't ready.
We are really 'rolling the dice' for what we could get for Pillar, Belt and Crawford. None of those guys would get a top prospect in return.
I think it's more likely it'll be a partial rebuild in the off season, with more moves coming during the year as it went this year.
Meaning Crawford and Belt open the season with us, and then are moved as the season progresses.

Belt won't open the season with us.

Belt won't open the season with us. Lord knows, I hope you're right, boagie.
But I'm curious; what leads you to believe that's true?

If we go into full rebuild mode it will be a year too late, at least, and last year was a complete waste

Not really, Randy.
We found Mini-Yaz.
We traded for Dubon.
We found out that Webb has a future, and maybe we found a reliever with Sammy Submariner.
We picked up Pillar who might be traded for another younger player.
That's not too bad, and far, far from a waste.

To me the two best everyday two way (offense/defense) players were Evan Longoria and Pilar. resign Pillar.
The 2 tough situations are Posey and Cueto with $42M between them next year. Is either worth it? with Bart at catcher, Posey likely needs to go to 1B or share it, making Belt available. Cueto likely stays, with no takers until next year if he recovers.
Solana and Dickerson should stay. Solana needs to play more.
Big question on MadBum, one of my favorites- but seeing the Dodgers re-sign Kershaw, and his late season fall, it worries me in the long run.

I don't want to see him anywhere near the Bag, other then as a once in a while back up.
I'd rather have him behind the plate where we can take full advantage of his defensive skills.
I'd like to think that Posey will rebound at the plate next season as he continues to recover from surgery, I just don't want to see him hitting anywhere in the top 5 spots.
But his defense is really, really good.
It just doesn't look pretty, like Molina, but I don't care.
I like the results I see when he's back there.

I agree Boly. I think there was a time when it was important to have Posey's bat in the lineup, that time has passed. Posey should remain the catcher until Bart is ready to take over starting catcher duties, then Posey becomes the backup catcher.

Getting Dubon was good. Not sold on Yaz and he isn't young. Webb wasn't a surprise and he would have got his shot if we started the rebuild last offseason. The problem isn't what we got...some of it is good. The problem is we kept too much junk and we lost our best trade chips. That's what makes the year a waste

Randy- Not sold on Yaz and he isn't young.
Boagie- The numbers he put up make it a great acquisition regardless if it's given "Randy's seal of approval" or not.

The guy was solid and seems to have found that always 'hit it hard' swing the Dodgers use. I don't think this is a fluke but more of a personal discovery. And he is an excellent outfielder.

“Webb wasn't a surprise and he would have got his shot if we started the rebuild last offseason”
Who wants to tell Randy? Guess I’ll do it. Webb was suspended half the season and was called up to the majors after just seven minor league appearances. You’re welcome.
