Some interesting similarities to the past; how history keeps on repeating regardless of the decade or the name of the guy on the mound.
1951-Ralph Branca, their # 3 starter, was summoned from the bullpen to face Bobby Thompson... And even though Branca had been used out of the bullpen some 15 games, it was not a move that was expected, nor thought of as wise, at the time.
1962-Walt Alston summons Stan Williams out of the bullpen in the Giant rally that put them over the top in game 3 of the play off, OVER Perronoski, Sherry, or Roebuck; the 3 top relievers for the Dodgers that year.
An inexplicable move that no one understood.
Flash forward to this year; inexplicably, they summon Kershaw from the pen over their own relievers, such as Biaz or Garcia.Kershaw had one relief appearance all year.
Perhaps Roberts was thinking Kershaw was equal to Bumgarner in big games in the playoffs.Who knows, but it wasn't a smart move because getting ready to relieve is different than the preparation to start.Roberts wasn't a pitcher, but Honeycutt should have told him that.
As I said, history keeps on repeating...

The Dodgers are built to win the division.....most of the parks in the NL West are HR havens or friendly except the Giants and on some days the Padres park.
They are not built to beat a 3 man ace type staff, e.g. Nats.
They have a batting lineup with little diversity in their swing. Analytics at its highest: HR or bust.
