Based upon the evidence that I have been reading recently, I was wrong about Farhan.
From what I read and have heard him say, it's not "all about the numbers."
If it was, he wouldn't even be talking about his number 1 priority being a guy who could relate to and communicate well with the players.
That's the kind of stuff I've been waiting to hear.
As boagie pointed out in another thread, Kotsay is a candidate and he's definitely not a numbers first kind of guy.
Not sure if I'd want Kotsay or not, but he was, as boagie also said, a scrappy player.
And I love scrappy players!
But as to Farhan, I said from the beginning that when I saw information to change my opinion of him, change my opinion I would, and I have.
He impressed me with his moves during the season.
He was true to his word when he said he wanted to be competitive this year, and at the dead line, he proved it; he went out and got guys who should have been able to help.
He was fare to Bochy, not wanting Bruce to go out with a line up of "maybe" kids.
He did what he could to see that Bochy went out as well as he could.
Thus my statement above; I'm impressed with what he did.
Now, I'd like him to knock my socks off, Sign Ryu, and a bat named Betts.

I think we're all just starting to get to know Zaidi better, Boly. There have been a lot of misconceptions about Zaidi on this board. I was wrong about him too. I thought since he was a numbers guy that he thinks he knows more about the game than anyone that isn't a numbers guy. I was led to believe that's how they think, because that's how Rog thinks, and that's how Brian Kenny portrays himself on the MLB Network. That's how alot of the mainstream sports media act.
Zaidi is different. Zaidi's stance is exactly where we should be on the topic of analytics in baseball. He believes the analytic side and the visual side are both important. If I'm correct, that's how you see it too. I know that's how I see it.

Brilliantly said, boagie!
What he was perceived to be, he certainly is not.
I was very impressed when I read that he sat down with Posey at the end of the season.
That showed me a man concerned about people, not just numbers.
Here's the link for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

I wouldn't say you are wrong just yet Boly. Wait till the puppet is hired I have to say I was wrong, Randy, for the things that he did and the things he's said.
remember, I asked for proof to accept the guy, and he provided it.
I would have been a massive hypocrite had I not acknowledged and given him his dues.
