There are many things about these lamoids that I don't understand, but here are a few:
1-How come our pitchers can't consistently get ahead in counts?
2-How come, if our starter starts out well, right around the 3rd or 4th inning, they suddenly struggle with the strike zone? Including Bumgarner. He did the same thing last night.
3-How come we can't keep the other team off the boards in the 1st inning?
4-How come Belt is still getting all the time at 1B? This debacle is over!
5-How come Crawford is still playing so much?
6-How come we signed a 30 year old infielder, who has a below average arm, and gave him back to back starts, the 2nd of which was at 3B?
Does the front office have plans to by pass Avelino for this clown?
7-How come our bullpen can't throw strikes, much less quality strikes. And that includes Watson and Smith.
8-How come Posey gets so many starts over Vogt? Bochy says he wants more offense, well Posey and his slap hits to RF ain't the answer.
9-What the frickin' hell is wrong with Bochy? He says he'll win with these guys, but it's not happening. This year, he has been the poster child for stupid/stubborn, sticking with guys who continually tank.
10-And finally, how stupid am I to tune in each game actually thinking most of the above will go away?
Pretty darned stupid.

Im hoping that the vets are getting starts to showcase offseason trades. Posey isnt going anywhere so you might as well play him...just hit him in the right spot. Fargeek must have grown close to Corbin Joseph in Oakland. Personally I think Solano has earned the time. Corbin Joseph is too similar to Connor Joe

As for Bochy, I'm hoping we'll hear more about this season after he retires.

he's never been a guy to 'show' someone up in the papers.

I think you have it backwards, Randy. It’s Bochy stifling Zaidi, if anything. You think the guy who will be here next year doesn’t want to evaluate the new players he brought in? You think he needs to continue to look at Posey, Belt, Crawford etc? You think he doesn’t want to see what Shaw, Dubon, Davis, and even Joseph can do?

Totally agree, Mark.
Zaidi has been "hamstrung" from the moment he signed his contract.
Likely he WANTED to bring in a new manager; his guy.
But with Bochy so close to 2,000 wins, no way he could cut the guy loose.
Farhan had to show respect for the guy.
Unfortunately, IMHO, Bochy hasn't returned the kindness as he continues to play Posey, Belt and Crawford. Who don't deserve to be on the field at this point.

I think whatever puppet Fargeek hires will only need to evaluate computer printouts

I think whatever puppet Fargeek hires will only need to evaluate computer printouts That's something I worry about, too, Randy, but I also worry about him hiring an Andy Greene type; a puppet who jingles and dances when the GM pulls the strings.
I have little respect for Greene, and only slightly more for Dave Roberts.
I have NO problem with using cyber metrics to help make decisions, but I don't want ALL decisions based upon that and that only.

Let’s get the new guy in here, because labeling him a stats geek or puppet. Maybe you’ll be surprised. I think Boly will give him a chance and Randy will hate the hire the second he hears it. Maybe it will be Bill Gates!

Count on it, Mark; I will give him a chance, puppet or not.
My patience with Bochy is at an end.
Every time I see Posey posted in an RBI slot, I see red.
I love, LOVE what Boch did for us.
But his stubbornness has gone far, far too far.

Whoever gets hired it will be the same guy calling the shots...Fargeek. So I expect Boly will be just as unhappy. All I care about is seeing the youth. My expectations are low for our next "manager"

so are mine, Randy, so are mine.
My prayer is that whom ever we hire we not be a stubborn cow like Bochy, but realize he has a building job in front of him and will act and manage accordingly.

Zaidi has outmanaged Roberts in both games of this series, maybe he is a genius. Next year we don't even need a manager.

I don’t like Jaylin Davis not playing the last two days, he needs an everyday evaluation for next season. I do like beating the Dodgers twice though!

I'm with you, Mark, especially after Austin slater's continual antics; taking pitches that are hittable strikes, and wiffing on hittable pitches to which he can't get the bad head.
His act has grown stale for me.
Run the kid out there and he can do just as badly, but at least he'll be getting needed experience.

Its not just Slater Boly. Its a league wide trend for hitters to guess more, even with two strikes. They consult the stats books instead of just seeing and reacting.

It's not a new thing to read scouting reports on players while sitting in the dugout. The difference is hitters don't shorten up their swings as much as they used to. There's less situational hitting because of the shifts. It's harder to get a ball through the defense so instead they try to get the ball over the defense. Because of this batting averages have gone down and homerun totals have gone up. Of course, when you are swinging for power you look worse when you're fooled on a pitch. I dont blame the players that much, you get paid more when you hit homeruns, and who wouldn't want to get paid more?

But Slater takes more fat pitches than even Posey does, boagie, and that is something I can't and won't and didn't tolerate as a coach.

How many of the players you coached won an MVP and batting title in the majors?

Randy, on what page of the stat book does it say to take strikes when you already have two strikes on you?

What Randy is saying, Mark, is that, rather than "see ball, react to ball," the hitters are so hung up in reading the stat trends, that they guess, and guess wrong way too often.

Exactly right boly. The books tell the players what to think or look for in every situation now so their instincts aren't being developed.

The front offices are the ones researching the stats, not the players. Now, players might look at sheets that have what a pitcher might throw in a certain count, but that's not a new development, they've been doing that for decades now.
