I was stunned, floored, really, when Scooter Gennet failed to hit for us.
I really was.
This guy has hit something like 50 HRs in the last 2 seasons, and has improved dramatically offensively over the last 3 or 4.
I thought/believed he was ONE OF THE key pieces in all of the deals that Farhan made.
When I got home from the east coast last night, and tuned into the game, I was shocked to see that we had flat out released the guy.
I get it. His defense left a lot to be desired.
I get it. He hadn't hit...yet.
I get it. He wasn't in Farhan's plans for next year...but I believe he should have been.
I wouldn't have done this.
To ME, it says that Farhan is already giving up on this year, and focusing on next year.
Not necessarily a bad thing... but to bring up a kid like Dubon in the heat of the race, (whether we have a chance or not is moot to the kid. HE will see it that way), isn't a wise move.
Hey, it might work out.
Or it could explode in their faces as the Solomon Torres move did way back when.

Totally agree, Boly, and I said the same in Mordy’s thread. And I blame Bochy for this. Scooter missed half the season with injuries and since returning was receiving inconsistent at bats. Bochy needed to write his name in the lineup card every night and gotten him his four or five at bats. Instead he started jerking him around almost immediately. Platooning him, pulling him for pinch hitters when a lefty reliever came in, just ridiculous. He was an all star second baseman just last year and Bochy treated him like he was some kid just up from the minors. He hit .294 against lefties last year, why is he being platooned and hit for? If Bochy had just treated him like he treats his beloved veterans we would had some needed pop in the lineup. Now he’ll do it elsewhere.

Yeah, I didn't get the platooning thing either.
The best I could come up with is that Boch is desperate to win one last time.
But that crazy thought goes down the toilet every time he makes out a line up card with Posey's name in the 3 or 4 hole.

Scooter+ not only sucked at the plate he was awful in the field too...He showed very little range and on more than one occasion he couldnt turn a basic DP with weak or errant throws...wanna blame his slow start on the fact that he was rusty? Ok...But how do you explain his ineptitude in the field...I am happy he is gone...

I disagree, Randy.
I thought the Scooter pick up was brilliant.
And it would have been had he picked up where he left off from the last 3 years.
Don't like his mediocre glove, and never did, but he can hit.
Won't surprise me at all to see him come back with a vengeance next year.
