I dont hate Fargeek...i merely dont worship him like the rest of you. Hes the product of this stat geek revolution in the game and that is what i detest, not Zaidi specifically. It pisses me off that real baseball men who have given their lives to the game are now bypassed in favor of nerds that only know numbers

So ask yourself why have all teams in all sports, not just baseball, gone from grizzled old baseball types to “stat geeks?” You really want grizzled old veterans as managers and GM’s? The kind that gives out long term no trade contracts to over the hill veterans because of past services rendered? That’s what Sabean and Evans did and that’s why the Giants are where they are. And you really want a manager who refuses to bench these veterans for the same reason? That’s where the Giants are right now, with Posey and Crawford playing every day while Vogt and Solano sit. Give me a manager with a computer who looks at stats and not the name and determines who should be playing in that manner.

I don't worship him, Randy, I simply acknowledge and respect what he did for us.

Whether you have real baseball men or stats geeks there's no guarantee of success. I will simply put more faith in men that have actually played the game over geeks who only know numbers

As far as the scouts assessing players, and decisions made on the field I would agree. However, I do believe looking at numbers is also important. The GM doesn't really need to have baseball experience, but he needs to know that baseball experience is important at a number of levels when you're in charge of running a franchise. I believe Zaidi is a guy that wants to keep that element of "baseball guys" within our organization. Tell me what he has said or done that makes you think otherwise, I'd love to know.

Randy, which is the last major league team not run by analytics to win a championship? Going to guess it was the 2014 Giants. In twenty years, the answer to that question will be the same.
