Rog won't be joining us anymore. I was truly hoping he'd change, but he didn't. Rog took time during his previous ban to learn absolutely nothing, in fact, if anything, he got worse. I don't really want to make this a long drawn out post, but nobody helped me decide this, not Randy, not Boly, nobody except Rog and his actions. I believe everyone here was hoping Rog would change, but I think we all knew that wasn't going to happen.
For my delay, and my inaction at times when I should have taken action, I apologize to you guys. I never wanted to play parent here, but I should have acted much sooner than I did.

Boagie, you have nothimg, NADA to apologize for.
I am betting it was a very, VERY difficult decision for you to make.
And if it helps any, and I really hope it does, it is the same decision I would have made.
I have lost count of the number of times that all of us have tried, in one way or another, to help Roger, Mordy's attempt being the most recent.
But he simply would not listen.
He saw the problem as US, and not him.
That is NOT on you, that is on him.
With all that in mind, please DON'T lose any more sleep over this.
For what it is worth you have my total support.

Dont worry, Boly. I didn't want to make the decision to kick anyone, but I'm certainly not losing any sleep.

Rog is an important part of this board and should not be banned permanently in my opinion. Maybe a month or so and then have him write an apology. One doesn’t know what he’s going through personally that’s made him a bit abusive lately. And talking sense to Randy is a frustrating job, Lord knows I’ve tried! Plus this would make me default stats geek and I want no part of the job! Bring back Rog!

Rog had his month ban to try to change his tune, Mark. He opted not to. I wish Rog well, I have no animosity toward him.

He's a jackass and he has proven he wont ever change. He had his chance and blew it As someone who happens to like Rog ( wasn't always the case) and who went to bat for him during the last ban, I have to agree with Dood here...He absolutely didn't learn a thing and he reverted right back to his old self..Now RX, makes a good point, that we dont know whats going on in his personal life that could make him act this way but enough is enough...i DO FEEL BAD FOR rOG , AND i DID ENJOY HIS POSTS ,but [personal attacks should not be tolerated, and he kept on crossing the line..Having said that, I think a written apology with close monitoring, we should eventually see him back here one of these weeks...

Rog has always been the same, hes not experiencing some personal trauma. When I joined this board back when Marc was the owner many years ago, him and his friend told me not to respond to Rog because they wanted him to go away. Hes always been obnoxious.

Though I'm sorry boagie had to ban Roger, I still believe in my heart that he made the right decision.
It couldn't have been easy, but he had the courage to do what he believed needed to be done.
Boagie was up front with us from the beginning, and to question his decision now, when everyone had ample time to speak up before he pulled the plub, to me, is not only counter productive, but a tad hypocritical, too.

Well I was in Peru when Boagie dumped him, so I don’t think my comments are hypocritical at all. And we shouldn’t be calling him names, Randy, because he’s no longer here to defend himself. Since I was away when it happened, I did feel the need to express my opinion, and I see that Mordy shares it. Let’s face it, there’s only five posters left on this board, so (forgive the math you old timey baseball dinosaurs!) it’s only 60-40 against him, and that’s pretty close. Of course Boagie is commissioner and I respect his opinion.

Hadn't known you were in Peru, Mark. You should let us know when you'll be gone.
Hope you had a good time.
Habla ud. espanol?
Se que su esposa lo habla, peru ud?
No estoy seguro.
But all that aside, before posting comments about boagie's decision, I believe it would be wise to first consider what it would feel like if YOU were in boagie's shoes.
How would YOU perceive comments that didn't 100% support your decision?
Just my thoughts.
And as to 5 of us... that's sad. Beyond sad.
Come to think of it, there's 6 of us. Not much better, but still...
Gary, Mark, boagie, Randy, me, Mordy

Did anyone consider that it might be easier to get more people posting here without the cancer around? All of us had grown more accustomed to his ways and put up with his shenanigans for whatever reasons. Of course Rx wants him back because they agree on pretty much everything. Look if you guys want him back that's your call and literally, up to Boagie ultimately. Just don't be surprised if we're in this same position not long after. I know this much, if Boagie puts me in time out for a month, i would understand if i dont change my ways im gone.if Tog is as smart as he thinks he is, he'll understand he did this to himself. I'm sure he has other forums filled with stats lovers to keep him busy.

I appreciate the support from all of you. Mark doesn't agree with my decision, as I knew he wouldn't, but he still respects my role as the board administrator, I appreciate him because of that.
Just so you know, Mark, banning Rog the first time and permanently banning him this time were not knee jerk reactions. I didn't want to. Time and time again we have practically begged Rog to see things from all the posters perspectives. We've asked that he understand that not everyone thinks the same way he does. His reaction to this was posting MORE about sabermetrics and on top of that acted as if his role on this board was to make us all believers of his message.
I appreciate opinions, I appreciate learning new things (even if I dont necessarily agree with them) what I dont appreciate is being called stupid by someone just because we don't agree. In real life you get punched in the nose for that type of behavior.
Mark and Rog got along because they saw eye to eye on the sabermetric side of baseball. The difference is, Mark has never tried to jam it down our throats. Mark has always been respectful of the person, despite disagreeing on the topic. I think we've all done that.
I've disagreed with everyone here, but when I disagree with you the topic stays on baseball and the reasons why I disagree, it never shifts to questioning your intelligence. When that happens people tend to not share their opinions as freely as they should be able to. Why do you think Randy has very short and direct to the point posts now? Randy used to have longer more thought out posts, and he used to include stats as well. But everyone here knows if you did that you'd have an even longer response from Rog with a ton of cherry picked stats in an attempt to discredit your point. Now of course everyone has done that a time or two, but EVERYTIME? After a while it just gets annoying and hard to sustain a good conversation.
When I banned Rog the first time he emailed me and told me he acted the way he did because nobody wanted to absorb his "teaching." Immediately I knew Rog was not going to change, and why he wasn't going to change. Number one, he feels it's his role to teach others, which tells me he feels he's the smartest guy in the room. Number two, when I told him in my reply that it wasn't his job to "teach" he didn't respond. Three, he's 100% incapable of just walking away from an argument. And finally, number four, when I cut his ban short and invited him back in good faith, he didn't say a word about his time away. He didn't apologize to anyone. He didn't say "it's good to be back" or "I missed you guys." Nothing. Other than perhaps you, Mark, because you guys agree on many levels, that tells me he has zero respect for the group of people on board, as a whole. That really rubbed me the wrong way.
That said, I dont hate Rog. Him and I have seen eye to eye on MANY things. As I said before, Marc didn't want me replying to any of his posts, he threatened to ban me from the board if I did, but I did anyway. Because I did, many of the people that wanted him gone let him stay. I stuck my neck out for Rog. Boly has stuck his neck out for Rog many times, and Mordy recently went to bat for Rog. He's the reason I cut Rog's first ban short. All these people have supported Rog and in turn no "sorry" or "I'm glad to be back"..nothing. He just went right on back to his usual sabermetric crusade.
If you're truly his friend, Mark, explain to him his faults here on the board, and maybe if he sees the light and commits to changing he can email me. If anyone can convince him, you're probably the one to do it. Otherwise, this matter is closed.

Holy, cow! He just can't get past that we "need to be educated."
Sad, boagie, truly sad.
Everything you said is right on point; a bulls eye, dead center in the target.
I, too, was surprised that he offered no apology, or any of the other things you posted above.
Not the way I would have reacted. Not even close.

To be honest, I saw Rog’s recent posts to Randy that got him permanently banned and I totally agree that they were abusive and uncalled for. Personally I like to get my zingers in too, but I try to do it with humor and I personally like everyone and respect differing sports opinions so I don’t get frustrated when nobody agrees with me. Now politics is a different story of course so I have decided to stay away from there! As for Rog, he’s also an over poster and there’s been a lot of times I logged on, saw a hundred Rog posts and immediately logged off. I don’t really disagree with him being banned, just trying to defend a friend. I’ll stick to talk to him via email.

Thank you for that, Mark. Yes, Rog's overposting was also obnoxious. You're always welcome here Mark. I know everyone here likes you, despite not agreeing with you politically.

Agree, boagie. Mark is one of my favorites, that's for sure.
And we should always put politics aside when talking baseball...but I'm not sure that is what the Giants are playing.
Looks more like Little League, or Tee Ball. but it sure ain't good baseball.
