We give up a 5 run lead in the 8th, then a 2 run lead in the 10th? This group of jokers is what we gave up on a chance to trade Bum and Smith for?
Wow, good choice Faridiot

Two of the players "Faridiot" acquired also knocked in 8 of the Giants 11 runs tonight.
A other Giants win, another bitter Randy.

It's not about wins or losses it's about how this group is playing. I do like what I've seen by some of the new players like Yaz and Pillar and Solano. But I was poo pood when I said the bullpen was gutted. Then we see how ugly it has been. But you're still happy with this? Really?

They need to find answers in the bullpen, but they can, and I think they will. Putting together a bullpen is Bochy's strength. And yes, I'm happy if they win, regardless of how they win.

When the bullpen culprits are Watson and Smith, I'm not sure how much deadline deals had to do with the problem.
What I do think though is that it's hypocritical to complain that the Giants didn't trade enough players, and then complain because they players they did trade weakened them -- especially when, again, the culprits are the two top relievers the team had going into the season.
Anyone have ideas on what has happened to the two top lefties of late?

To an extent Randy is right. Not having Dyson has hurt us, but to say our bullpen was "gutted" is a slight exaggeration.
Pomeranz was a failed starter that hadn't really found his role in the bullpen yet.
Black never found stability at the big league level. Good velocity, not enough control.
Melancon, to be fair had pitched better this season than previous seasons, but still wasn't a guy we could count on in high pressure situations. It would have been nice if we could have ditched his contract and kept him around, but getting his contract off the books was an opportunity we couldn't pass up.
To your point, Rog. It's definitely the guys that were already here that have been blowing it recently, not the replacements for the pitchers we traded.
Despite the homerun yesterday, Coonrod has been solid.
Fernando Abad just got called up, I think he'll find a consistent role.
Jandel Gustave has looked good thus far.
Of the guys we've had around for a while, I think Gott has earned a shot at being in a more significant role. I'd make him the setup guy and see how he does.
Either way, I think Bochy will work his magic and find a combination that works.

And isn't Dyson on the IL?
I faulted and will continue to fault Watson.
In the 2nd half last year he tired out.
He did it again this year.
And I've been saying since that Milwaukee series that Smith ain't the same, so last night should have come as a surprise to no one.
As it shouldn't have been as surprise to watch Moronta walk in a run.
There is NO excuse, NONE, for the inability to throw strikes at the major league level.
None.

Boly is right that Watson has been the primary culprit. The "new" pitchers have actually pitched pretty well.
I underestimated Tony when the Giants signed him, but sadly he has begun to pitch BELOW my expectations of late.

At this stage in his career Moronta is better starting an inning because it takes a batter or two for his command to click in. When it does he is nearly unhittable. Id give him the 8th and relegate Watson to middle relief

I like your idea, Randy.

I agree.
But last year bringing him IN, in the middle of an inning to put out a fire was the norm, and he was good at it.
not this year.
