I understand the reluctance to say that but at this moment in time they have taken 8 of the last 9 series and the 9th was a split of 4 games. The teams they played coming into those series have all been at .500 or above and Chicago is a division leader, though less impactful on the road.
I've played enough baseball to know that team confidence is as big a factor as anything, and this team believes they can win, and does it so far. A different hero every night.
Win one for Bochy.

Good points, Gary. I posted a week ago that this was starting to smell like 2010 all over again. And now the press is picking it up. Do they read this board? Good things are happening for us, as opposed to the last 2 years when mostly, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

Good things are happening for us, as opposed to the last 2 years when mostly, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. What's really encouraging is that there are only 2 teams in MLB that are above 20 wins in one run games. The Padres at 20-12 and the Giants at league best 24-10. Its why I fidget a bit when considering trading RPs, outside of Melancon. The entire league is close. In the AL 9 of 15 are above .500 and 3 are above .600- NYY, Hou. and Minn. In the NL 8 of 15 are above .500 and only 1 is above .600- LAD.

I'm just not ready to declare that we have a 'good team,' yet.
Yet.
We've won the Cub series and THAT was a huge step for the team, that's for sure!
We beat up a poorly playing, bad pitching Milwaukee group, and a decent to good Met team with potentially great starting pitching.
Now the Cubs.
I'm close to agreeing with you, though, Gary. Very close
Did any of us think we'd be saying this on May 30th?

The Giants are back to .500 and keep winning the one-run games, even after trading away four relievers. But I'm with Boly in not being ready to declare them a good team yet. And I still compare them more to the 2016 team than to 2010. The 2010 team had a lot more hitting and starting pitching.

Yeah, that 2010 team, With Cain, Lincecum and Sanchez could roll out three good starters every 5 days.
All we can do, to paraphrase an old adage is:
Jeffy and Bum and drink some rum...(while the other three are out there)

I like the Jeff, Bum and drink some rum patter. The Giants also had a very nice fourth starter in Jonathan Sanchez, and a good fifth starter in Barry Zito.

Based upon starters 3-4 & 5, it should be POUND the rum!
