This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen Rodriguez pitch since they brought him back up from the minors.
This is not the same kid we saw last year.
To my eye on Television it looks like frequently he's not finishing his pitches, meaning he's just releasing the ball and not pulling it through.
Couple that with lack of fastball command, curve balls that just roll up there, and no command of his changeup, and here we are.
This is exactly what I was speaking about in the offseason. He had so much success last year but did not really understand how he did it.
He has poise, yes but in terms of pitching mechanics and learning to become self-correcting when he's on the mound he's not there yet.
This is going to be a long learning year for him. And that's not a bad thing.
It just means that we as fans and the Giants have to be patient with him.
As Tim Flannery said on the pregame show before today's game, only a handful of players don't get sent back down to the minors during their career.
It's a process. He's new to pitching. Let's just wait and see what happens.
