Flannery beat me to it, by saying it before I could post it, but around the 5th inning I realized that for the kids, Vogt is likely the better choice behind the plate.
As a former pitcher I LOVED the way he managed Beede in his last start and today. Wow!
What a great job of handling the kids.
Buster's a fine catcher, but for the kids?
I'm running Vogt out there. At least for Beede and Anderson.
I thought he was that impressive!

dk.. same thing that I thought...this was one of the smoothest games in a long time...let the kid pitch in his own tempo, have a plan and pitch to it...no big shake offs to a catcher who never seems to really care....
Since Posey came back I notice he stays low for most pitches...no mor jumping up for balls in the dirt ...although yesterday he did raise up for some balls in the dirt. I also notice he tends to go down to his knees where he set his target and not slide over to where the ball was headed...he still is antsy behind the plate, giving the target as the pitch is being released.

Not a surprising post from the two loudest critics of Posey

For Don, that criticism is far, Randy, but not for me.
My bitches about Buster have been at the plate, NOT behind it.
I've continually bitched about the number of DP's he hits into.
I've bitched about him not driving the ball, especially last year, when, it turns out, he was hurt, and thus I retracted my complaints.
All I've done since 2011 is praise his improvement defensively.
My post was based SOLELY upon how I saw Vogt handle the kids.
In fact, on the post game, after Flannery's comment, Estes addressed the issue.
He said that often, based upon Buster's reputation, the kids are pressing, trying too hard to impress Buster; trying to live up to his 'perceived' impressions of him.
Be fair, Randy. Please.
